Melted

For the next six weeks (leading up to Valentine’s Day) Lonely Author will dedicate most of his posts to his favorite subject; that thing called “Love.”

Melted

We shared glances from a distance
Like beacons in a crowded room
Our bodies gravitated to the center
fingers entwined like bride and groom
dance floor darkened like the universe
yet I found myself basking in her light
cheek to cheek we swayed in unison
flames of passions dancing with delight

Intoxicated by her scent skin and touch
was she feeling the wonders that I felt
adjoining hearts performed a sweet ballet
I shrunk inside my shirt my pants my belt
suddenly she was no longer in my arms
lights go on as the music is finally done
finding our empty shoes I suddenly realize
this beauty and I slowly melted into one

      1. You’re welcome. You write romantic poetry very well. I wish I could. I can read it and I can appreciate it, but I just can’t write it. I’m always left scratching my head and trying to think of a good rhyme for elbows or something.

                    1. Great! Looking forward to the result. It will either be synchronised swimming in humour or the hilarious oddly paired duet that will be between Romeo and muppet 😀

  1. Another little known fact about this Southern lass … Valentine’s Day is my second favorite day of the year. I love your romantic aptitude and attitude. Smiles.

  2. Lovely write. It put me into a nice romantic mood and then your friend there with his comments and your answers just put me into a hilarious mood and I had to re-read the piece again to salvage some romance mindset. I agree with Darshith, you ought to write more often on love and more poetry. You’re really good at it 🙂

  3. Ah, love! I suppose after Christmas is over there isn’t much else until maybe Halloween and we can write about ghosts and goblins, or perhaps how patriotic we are for all those military holidays. Anyway, you’ve done a quite vivid presentation on that kind of ‘love at first sight’ feeling.

  4. Romance is my kryptonite. It provides a sense of emotional balance to my physical world. It slows my heart rate as I ponder and smile and then accelerates it with passion. It is an experience I live for every day.
Thank you for giving me a moment to have and share this experience.

  5. ah! Valentines Day for all the lovers in this world. 🙂

    Beautifully & greatly written.

    My favorite lines:

dance floor darkened like the universe
yet I found myself basking in her light
cheek to cheek we swayed in unison
flames of passions dancing with delight

You sooth the gentleness & embrace the love and souls of the universe. 🙂
