Love Poems Lost At Sea

Lovely little love poems
Filled with passion and amor
Do they lose their worth
If the intended fails to adore
With heart and soul
love poems tend to woo
so accept his caring message
his words are meant for you

Many poets go unread
like clouds in a sunny sky
with unrequited metaphors
unloved poets live to die
if love poems wilt away
when a lover denies his plea
this poet prefers to disappear
with my love poems lost at sea

  1. Ah, yes…better it is to have them lost at sea than not enjoyed by their intended subjects. Great poetry, my friend, and your daughter has quite the eye for photography. Beautiful!

  2. As a young girl, I put a message in a bottle. I didn’t live anywhere close to the ocean, so I threw it off a waterfall (if you’ve seen the movie, The Last Of The Mohicans, you’ll know which one.) I wrote “I’m ten years old. When I grow up, I want to be alive. If you find this, please come rescue me.”)
    What a silly little girl.

          1. Uncas was Chingachgooks’ son. After he got killed, Chingachgook was “the last of the Mohincans.” Daniel-Day-Lewis (Natty Bumpo) was his adopted white son. That movie was filmed in my beloved mountains. My daddy actually helped build the log cabin where the Camerons lived.
Uncas was played by Eric Schweig…who is just beautiful!
The last line of the movie is so incredibly sad, I almost have to walk away.
Chingachgook was the last of a dying breed. He looks over the land that would eventually be stolen from his people and says “Once we were here.”

              1. You will enjoy it but it IS incredibly sad. The scenery is breath-taking and the music will stir your soul.
Think of me while you are watching. I walked through those woods and hid behind that waterfall.
When I die, I wish somebody would take me up there, lay me under a tree and let me melt into all that beauty.

  3. I think good poetry is timeless and independent of the time, place and circumstances in which it was written (although these might be interesting for scholars to investigate). In other words, love poetry shouldn’t be thrown away just because it didn’t lead anywhere romantically. 🙂

  4. This is beautiful… The theme reminds me of a song… not Message In a Bottle… but that too… First one that came to mind is Swallowed in the Sea (a lovely Coldplay song)…

Also… Wow, that is a gorgeous photo! I’m so impressed.

    1. I am not familiar with the song. I will listen to it on Youtube. Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the poem. My daughter sent me that pick & I kept playing with it in my head. And of course, I wrote the last night first. Thank you for the compliments and for stopping by to read.

  5. What fool the intended if they do not take to heart the poems written from another’s heartfelt intentions.

Please tell Catherine that her photo is wonderful. Was this a found opportunity or did you – she – create the scene?

  6. Had a suitor before who kept writing me love poems. Thought they were lovely and I was grateful. But I only loved him as a friend and he wanted to be more. Now, thinking back to all his writings, I still treasure them even though his intentions and expectations were not met. He may have lost me (or I have lost him) but his poems lasted forever.

                    1. Of course. To follow those who folow me, it takes hours of reading. Then, the time to create these posts & the time answering all comments. I am considering certain changes with the blog. To devote more time to market my unpublished novels, write the next one & to give her more of my time as well.

                    2. I needed to dedicate a few months to getting the blog going. Geetha, I never expected this quick growth. Now, it is time to get back to priorities. Chimp needs to get back to finding an agent for for my books, my marriage, and my daughter (and her mother). And of course, my continued recovery.

  7. Your poems sedate the soul providing opportunity for self reflection and thought. They create a medley of emotions that blend in such a way, the reader feels abstract gratification. Well done!

    1. Thank you so much. I consider myself a lucky person because I started blogging and it gave me the chance to meet someone as sweet as you. You know I love your blog to keep up with fashion ideas. Also to feel the sunshine that you give. Thank you for mentioning me. I am so flattered, Thanks

  8. This reminded me of an article’s main idea, that if you are a poet in a troubled country, you will be immortalized, and just a commoner in a well off country. 🙂

  10. Reblogged this on The Lonely Author and commented:

Hola people. The struggle is real. I stared at a blank page for three hours while Allie watched Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix. So, while I was trying to retrieve my romantic mojo she was sighing to McDreamy and McSteamy. Meanwhile McChimpy was McBlanky. Here is a reblog for anyone who may have missed it, while I rant to the Gods of Poetry.

  11. I haven’t read this piece. Thanks for sharing again. Allie is watching the T.V, is that not what she ought to be doing? I once fell into this poetic block and it wasn’t fun. I told everyone who cared to listen but my thoughts just refused to process in poetic lines. One day, She came back looking for me, she flooded my heart and I did nothing else but write poems. Poem would come back, she sure loves you too much to stay gone.

    1. We watch tv together, but lately it’s Grey Anatomy marathons. In the past I have experienced a little writer’s block with my novel writing, but I would start editing and I would snap out of it. But now writing poetry I don’t have editing to fall back on. So, it has been frustrating. Thanks for stopping by to read and share your experiences.

    1. Thank you. Some of them. Allie really isn’t into poetry or writing. I have a feel for which ones she will like. On those days I ask her to take a peek. We have discussed this before of writer’s being with non-writers and the challenges it present.
