Following so many blogs, I keep coming across the same message; people dealing with loss. It is difficult to give and give while a partner takes and takes. You eventually reach the point where you become a hollowed soul with nothing left to give.
I dedicate this to all of you who gave and gave…
I Gave You Everything
We had a pretty garden
a flower bed made of love
I gave you everything
‘til there was nothing left of me
then you said it was over
you took your love away
you took everything
the laughter and smiles
the moments we were one
you left me completely hollow
‘til the lovely flowers died
now there’s nothing left to bloom
the garden has infertile soil
where nothing can be sown
cause the only thing that grows
when you take away from it
is a hole

Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for touching that stone where my heart used to be. Warm hugs of appreciation. ❤ ❤ ❤

I love how you turned this into a positive poem even though it talks about loss. I felt a silent defiance in it which was heartening.

I really appreciate your compassion for the many who “gave and gave” and were ultimately robbed or starved to death. Thank you–it helps to have someone’s acknowledgement. And I was sure I was following you…maybe there was a glitch, as it appears I need to re-follow–done and done 🙂

So true.
Do I have your permission to make a poster out of those words.
Will definitely quote the words as yours.

While it is better to give than to receive, there comes a point in time when there is no more to give because there’s been nothing given back in return. An empathetic write from an empathetic heart. Beautiful work, my friend!

I am learning not to even bother sharing my disappointments or resentments. I have to keep learning to make my anger evaporate reminding myself that we don’t live in the same realities with the same sensitivities as others even those that are allegedly close.

There is a way to engage giving that leaves no hole. It’s giving with no expectation; like throwing it away into the wind, or the river never to be seen again. When we give with compassion (a self-empowered personal choice) we do not lose; we free ourselves from the bondage of trust and related expectations. But when we give from “love” we inevitably get into trouble: love, you see, is a reciprocal energy; compassion is not.

You click on the little tab next to the follow count that says Following the Lonely Author. That should do the trick. You’re a writer. So happy to meet you. You have a nice blog. – Andrew

At the time, I had a hard time finding your Follow. Or maybe it’s just me which it very well could be. Hiding in plain sight.
Maybe I should’ve called mine The Reluctant Blog. Not so much reluctant as I am just the type that can’t find something to write about every day. I have to feel the muse, I guess. I do enjoy writing but the business of life itself gets in my way.
Feel free to drop by whenever you want.
