Since, I won’t be around much, I decided to repost a few of my older writes for my newer friends to read. This one is from November 12, back when I first started writing poetry. “Blooming In The Dark,” also happens to be one of my favorites. Hope you enjoy.
Happy Tuesday to all.
Sometimes, neglect can be as painful as abuse.
To all the women who have ever felt alone, unwanted, unappreciated, or unloved.
This one is for you.
Blooming in the Dark
Unappreciated sacrifices
replaced dreams that slowly died
her aging petals wilting
from the silent tears she cried
Forgotten and all alone
hummingbird with no sound
heart beating without love
petals sinking to the ground
Depressed in her little corner
neglected and unmarked
an unappreciated flower
forever blooming in the dark
I’m sure I read this before but I very much enjoyed reading it again. Neglect was the main form of child abuse I endured. I was kept in bed A LOT sick, medicated with alcohol, medically neglected to the point of being in bed for a year when I was four and having to learn to walk all over again. I also, taught myself to read that year. I did bloom in the dark. Even back then, Jesus was there with me helping me survive and overcome.
I can’t believe you haven’t been writing poetry for years and years.
I wrote a short prose a few months back and when you have time, I’d like for you to read it called “The Colors of Joy” just go to my homepage and type it in the search. It dove-tails your poem.

I will search for it. Thanks for sharing. Just started this past October or November. But had quite a bit of practice these moments. Thanks.

I have always loved this. Well, since the first time I read it anyway. I don’t think I need to say much more here… I said it all on the original post. (Where you can read my comments to your heart’s content…)

I do have some darkness… I try to keep the levels under control. I confess, some days I fail. But I think that’s just part of who I am. I’m glad my comments are well-received, for lack of a better description… Hope all is well and reblogging is a great idea rather than full-disappear. (I’m just making up words now.)

I didn’t want to do a complete disappear. I think that is terrible for a blog. Unfortunately, my keeping up with blogs has been spotty this week. Next week I come back with a vengeance. Laughing. Sandra be well. I worry about you. Always try to see the positive in everything, even the bad.

Hey, thanks for caring. I’m just going through some hell right now… I may get out of it someday… Doesn’t matter anyway… I have to put on my ‘everything’s fine’ face for my children.

I know. You will get out of it. I have faith in that. Your writing is powerful. A weak person couldn’t write like that. You have inner strength you have realized. Be well.

This is a beauty and relatable. I like the way you write poetry and it’s great you reblogged this because I missed it before. One quote I love and say to myself sometimes is “No mud, no lotus” it pretty much sums it up some days 🙂 Hope yesterday went well for you, one day at a time, sending more positive vibes for Tuesday 🙂

Laughing. I have been saying one day at a time this week. Quite a bit of annoying stuff mixed in with the good and bad. I am okay so far. My blog was new and didn’t have many followers when I wrote this, so I figured it was a perfect reblog. Thank you for reading, your kind words and thoughts. Be well.

Most magazines don’t want a story if it’s been published somewhere else, even on a blog. They want first rights. But thank you for thinking it’s good enough to publish. 🙂
Best to you. 🙂
