How Many Flowers Have To Die
Beautiful gardens full of life
warming us with their hope.
Gardens so full of innocence,
the innocence we lose every
time a storm of hate invades.
When will we cultivate love,
or are we waiting to discover
how many flowers have to die.

My deepest condolences to the the victims, families, and community of Parkland, Florida. Florida.
Beautiful sentiments, Andrew. I’m glad that the teenagers are raising their voices. Perhaps they can accomplish what the grown-ups have failed to do – protect them. I’m starting to have hope that maybe we can curb the insanity that robs so many in this country of their futures.

Thank you for contributing your thoughts to this post. Perhaps these students can succeed where we have failed. Wouldn’t that be poetic.

I truly don’t understand all the evil that goes on in this world that we live in. I hope that sense will prevail one day and that guns will be illegal.

So much hatred in the world today. And so much of that is in our country. Hoping things change soon. Beautifully written.

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I wish thing would change. (I believe social media has played a great role in spreading hate and igniting envy).
Hopefully, one day we can stop the madness.

Social media could be the worst part! Such a double edged sword. I love my social media, and also the ability to spread important news (eg. Amber alerts, etc) quickly. But it has also become such a vile platform for people. It’s too easy nowadays for hateful, angry people to hide behind their screens and say things they never would in person. So sad. The younger generation seemingly has no idea that words and actions have consequences because they never have to “see” them.

You have written the thing I preach everyday regarding social media. It is a blessing and a curse.
Be well Sam. My stops at your blog are a breathe of fresh air.

Good question. And how can an 18 year old with a history of psychological problems and violence, be approved to purchase a weapon? Thank you for contributing your thoughts to this post.

What sad times we live in. I worry so much about my grandchildren and all the others who have to go to school. School should be a place, just like home, where you feel safe.

In all this, I am amazed and appalled at the fierceness of those adults trying to keep the carnage going. Perhaps I shouldn’t be, though, killing is all that some people have ever known.
