Love Quietly Waits

.

Is there anything sadder than
Parallel lines in love that will
Never have the chance to meet

For what could be crueler than
Knowing they are a perfect pair
But intersecting could never be

If there is a place where the horizon
Finally meets the sea, that is where
Love quietly waits for you and me

    1. That was a beautiful comment, Laura. The last line could be a poem in itself. And your admission of having experienced this kind of love makes me feel sad and happy at the same time. Suffice to say, your words are touching .

Thank you on behalf of the Lonely Author who is caught up at the moment and I his humble partner often fill in for him whenever he gets busy. He will get back to you shortly to thank you personally.

    1. Sorry about the delayed response, Resa. The Lonely Author is really caught up and I seem to have missed your lovely comment. I usually fill in for him whenever he gets busy.

Now for your words, your “been there” tells us about how well you understand this poem. And the fact that you did not find it so sad but rich speaks volumes about your incredible strength.

Thank you so much once again for sharing your thoughts. On behalf of the Lonely Author, I remain his humble partner.

  1. The ending was what got me. I almost forgot it about it all, until it ripped me to shreds again. That’s what great poetry does. You read it and it makes you feel things. And this one really got me. Thank you. 🙂

  2. Oh my.. these words are so beautifully sad.. heartbreaking..
    unrequited love..
two hearts that met too late.. those are things so hard to understand because there is no answer to cure the heart & mind of that longing.. nor does it take away from the love one has for their other love in their heart..
I know we can love more than one person at the same time in completely different ways..
If this is just a beautiful poem – the love & pain I feel in each word completely takes my breath away..
If this is real – omg my heart breaks for you and I wish i could give you a big hug..
Life is short – my hopes and wishes for you is that you can find love & joy right where you’re standing.. that life covers you in all the goodness it has..
I know you only through your writings – but I am quite certain you are beautiful inside out and deserve the good you give to others..
Sweetest wishes to you my friend 💕

    1. Honestly, your comments warmed my heart and filled my eyes with stinging tears. Yes, this is my story. Three years ago, I met my dear friend Nandita, unfortunately a little late. The joy and happiness that we feel in our little shared moments chatting or on the phone are among the happiest in my life, I keep them stored in my heart and memory like priceless treasures.

Thank you so much for everything you said, I needed to hear those words. And I am certain when the sun rises in her half of the world, Nandita will read your words and drown in her own tears. Thank you so much. I can’t tell you how much we appreciate your words.

      1. My heart goes out to you and Nandita.. to love with walls is certainly a difficult space to reside in..
        Crushing really..
Happy sad amazing heartbreaking moments.. I hope N is okay and I hope you are too..
        Is your wife ok?
I know life is messy beautiful and lines get blurred..
Hold on to the best in all corners of your world..
Life is worth living happily 💕
You are all in my thoughts & prayers for the best always..

  3. At least love is this realm stays perfect. There’s no bills to pay or socks on the floor to pick up. We all want to believe in fairytale love bur love goes beyond hearts and flowers. It’s more of choice at times than a feeling. Still this is a beautiful and delightful read. Really lovely, sad and perfect.

  5. This is beautiful and heartbreaking in equal measure. I do wish you all the best – sometimes pain can bring about the most stunning, emotionally evocative poetry. It is sad that that is so, but I hope you find healing in your poetic outlets.

    1. You bring me comfort with your words. The pains of love can be very inspiring. I know it inspired me to write this poem. I continue using writing as an outlet, and as a vehicle to bring me closer to the one I love, my sweet Nandita. Thank you

  6. This was beautifully sad but it would be sadder if I choose to believe it so I won’t. Like I said, I’m a numbers guy, I believe things will add up and you two will be together. A love so strong that has more gravitational pull than the Earths atmosphere, something has to give.😊. Ironic thing is the tears shed from the parallel lines being apart won’t amount to how many will be shed when they come together. You too have verbal tools of your own Drew that can enter the heart, like I said…the best cardio pair there is. 🌹

    1. Love the way you spread your positive vibes everywhere you go. At the time this was originally written, Nandita and I were a bit pessimistic about our situation, but since then, the universe has been conspiring in our favor and we can see the day we will run into one another’s arms. Yes, and as you say, when we finally come together, those tears of joy will be priceless. Thank you for your wonderful support.

  7. It’s such a lovely poem. Each line struck so deeply. It made me sad but also stronger. I hope my other half and I will eventually find the place where the sea and the horizon meet. Thank you for helping keep my faith in love.

    1. There are times and situations where love NEEDS faith to see it succeed. I like to think that love and faith go hand in hand. Very flattered that this poem touched you so. This one means so much to me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate it.

  8. Parallel lines do meet in space time warp.
Lord Krishna had several wives (eight primary and sixteen thousand others) but everyone talks only about Radha Krishna though they were never married (and did not meet once Krishna left Mathura ).

      1. Well, actually this is a feeling that can be experienced even when you are with who you are meant to be, because you both are so so different that there can never be a union. And yet if you see, the two banks of a river do appear to unite at the horizon. I think that’s what hope is all about.
My comment was more hopeful than wistful.
        You write beautifully. 🙂

        1. Yes, the differences between a couple should be the glue that makes their lives intriguing, just as much as their similarities can be the glue that holds them together.

Thank you for taking the time out to read and share your thoughts. I apopreciate the kind gesture. Thanks.
