Garden Of Poetry

My poetry rarely contains much symbolism. However, my desire to improve as a poet urged me to pen this little write. (The symbolic meaning of every flower mentioned can be found at the end of the post). The inspiration for this piece comes from Nandita’s “The Root Of Life.”

Garden of Poetry

.

Strolling through her stunning verses
the aroma of rhymes entices my lungs
as poetic sunflowers generate warmth
and her love blooms in flowery tongues

Her windblown kisses of Baby’s Breath
Are love florets providing a sweet motif
As we exchange our primrose affections
For I am her stem and she my adoring leaf

She will eternally be my sacred lotus
Planted inside the deepest part of me
As I’ve become the photosynthetic sun
‘ever nourishing her garden of poetry

.

The image reminded me of you N. Eye liner, touch of lip gloss, and of course the flowers in the luxurious black hair.

.

Sunflowers (adoration, longevity)
Baby’s Breath (purity of heart)
Primrose (eternal love)
Sacred Lotus (In Buddhist symbolism it represents purity of body, speech, & spirit)

    1. Alicia, I just followed your blog. Anxious to read your poetry.
I was on vacation on the beaches of the Dominican Republic. Thus, my late response to your comments.
I just started writing poetry three years ago, and I have learned a lot by carefully reading my favorite
poets here in wordpress. I will gladly comment on your poems.
Nice to meet you. Again, sorry for the delay in my response. – Drew

  3. This was so fascinating! You have a lovely way with words – how you can string them together to make such fluid sentences. “She will be eternally my sared lotus” definitely touched my heart! As an aspiring writer myself, I hope you could check out my blog faustbites.wordpress.com, I would be more than happy to have feedback to the poems I write (I’m really striving to improve as well!)

  6. A few plants in the garden do not like me… But most of them I can wax poetic about.
I try to learn meanings of things. Many things overlap, say flowers and the color they have.
“Let’s take a look: Red: Although red flowers are most commonly associated with feelings of true love and passion, they can also be used to convey respect, desire, and courage. … White: Traditionally used in bridal bouquets or during memorial services, white flowers range in meaning from purity and innocence to sympathy.”
