My college sweetheart
Was a mute
With a warm heart
That always spoke to me
We held hands in the park
Stole kisses in the hallway
Made tender love
When my parents weren’t home
In her moments of sadness
She trembled in my arms
As she cried silent tears
That so badly needed to scream
She couldn’t whisper I love you
And by never saying it
My speechless lover taught me
Love is more than just a word

I also love the reminder of love being palpable energy, not just to be found in words. How many people say “I love you” and act in ways that put the essence of love to shame? I had to learn about love like everyone else. Perhaps, the difference between myself and other men is i REALLY listened. I learned from women, so I tink I know how to love a woman. Don’t know if that makes sense.
