feathers

feathers

.

We are feathers
floating aimlessly
on the whim of destiny’s breeze
fated to glide on uncontrollable
currents of air
that propel us as they please

Perhaps one day
fate will let a random wind
take me where I never flew
blowing me in the direction
that eventually leads me
closer to you

  2. My goodness every poem you write is beautiful, but for some reason I felt this one deep in my soul! You tend to bring tears to my eye, but sweetie you took things to a new level with this piece. Of course I am already feeling pretty emotional, but you have taken my emotions to places I did not realize existed, especially so early in the morning. Thank you for breath breathtaking writing creativity and beauty!

    1. I know you have been emotional this week. Yet, I am humbled by your words. We make plans and life just blows us off in another direction. In many ways you are a beautiful and delicate flower. Always motivating and inspiring despite your pain. You are an example of what every owman should be.

Honored tby your words and that this poem touched you so. Thanks.

      1. Thank you so much Drew! It has been an emotional week in which my emotions have been all over the place! I do believe it doesn’t matter how much I worry, my destiny is set in stone. Things will work out the way they are meant to and I will be okay! The winds of life blow us in so many directions that it is hard to keep up, but we all do our best!

I always LOVE reading your poems and am always so incredibly honored to read them! You have a magical beauty to your writing!

    1. A little different for me. I like to think a person can control his destiny, but so many times in life we make plans but are tossed in another direction. Thank you for your wonderful read and lovely words. They are treasures here.

      1. I too believe that we control the pen to our own stories my friend, but oft times people say we make plans and God laughs😉. It’s always my pleasure to read you Drew, love your poems for they are wonderful.🌹

  3. Thank you for all your visits to Strands… (I know that isn’t where my icon goes).
I found a back way to see who likes my posts. I can’t see Likes on my posts because I don’t allow them (long story)… anyway. I’ll bookmark your place if I haven’t already and will try to visit more often.

I like this post because I actually collect feathers. I feed the birds in my yard and think often about where some of those who migrate go… like the great blue heron.

    Cheers, Jules

      1. I have some feathers from places I’ve been in a jar on my patio. One jar is just for the feathers from my yard. I probably ought to wash them in some way… and let them air dry. Maybe make some kind of hanging art with them. I have a few though that I’ve glued onto a straw sun hat.
WP and I get along best when they stop trying to change things. I’ve tried looking at the forums… but usually (maybe since I have free sites) I don’t find much support or help.
Have you seen now that they have started this new thing …how many posts in a row… but started it in the middle of the month. And it isn’t even accurate (since I have more ‘in a row’ since before they started counting).

          1. I did that… until I had a twit who wouldn’t leave me alone so I had to shut that site down… And then on Strands I removed this same person five times… maybe they got the hint? I hope so.

WP now allows you to remove followers… but they can follow again and again , once they realize ‘they’ aren’t doing so. And mostly only relatively new (like within the last three or four months) – not some of the oldest ones (why I don’t know). I tend to not want followers who are say selling things like real estate, tools or services that have nothing to do with writing.

A personal quirk. If they read my about pages they might not follow in the first place. I tend to bookmark… And I try very hard to respond in some way to those who do comment on one of my posts.

              1. Mostly by accident… I’m not very tekkie.
I might have started someplace else first, but my first WP post started in April of 2011 (that is the site I shut down).
Writing however – that I’ve been doing forever 😉

  4. I love this. Every line resonates and perfectly captures how unpredictable and random life can be. But don’t forget, we have free will… we can seize the day! 🙂

  5. “ChronosFeR2” brought me here and I am happy about it because I liked what I found.
I would like to invite you to have together a cup of tea in “El zoco del escriba” so we can keep talking about whatever you want.
    Un abrazo.
