denial

denial

When I vow I will stop thinking of her
it’s because I can’t stop
When I say she is forgotten
the truth is, she is not
Look at me denying I am in denial
and I don’t know where to start
Perhaps I can deceive my friends
but I will never fool my heart
My brain continues to remember
what my heart refuses to forget
so I’ll continue to pretend
I’m not haunted
by the girl I haven’t met

  1. Excellent thought. It’s amazing how the heart (inner emotion) responds and reacts. There is an old comment – keep your heart with all diligence for out of it become the issues of life.

  2. When I was much younger, when things weren’t going well, dealing with a marriage that had fallen apart, I would lay in bed at night and know I was going to spend the rest of my life with someone I hadn’t even met. Turns out her name is Missy.

    This resonates.

    1. Tim, first, apologies for my very late response. I took a much needed holiday blogging break and I am finally getting
caught up with my messages. Sorry, I would never want anyone to think I ignored them.

Flattered that this poem resonated with you. I went through a hard break up over the summer, so I know exactly what you mean.
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your thoughts and experiences. It is appreciated.

  4. Hanging by every word, wondering which girls will it be. To end with someone yet to be known, leaves me with a bittersweet which makes my heart to desire to return and read more. Maybe, her face will appear in a future day. Love love your poetry. Never does it disappoints. Have an inspiring day. God bless.

  6. Beautiful!!! Thank you! God bless your hands and mind.
Trying to learn from you….:) “The denial that I haven’t meet you yet, but my heart already knows yours, my hands have traveled the horizon of your body, and my lips have tasted the sweet honey of your kisses. I close my eyes and you are there, so close that I can feel your breath, I can smell your perfume. I want to stay there with you, and reality forces me to open my eyes…. I refuse to do it.
