This was written back in September.

A friend gave me a ticket to a Latin Moonlight Cruise (basically a floating nightclub). The ambience and music; perfect. The ladies….oh so beautiful. A perfect night for romance. One little problem…….it was couples night.

This poem and photo were born on that night.

moonless heart

.

An abandoned yacht sits on a dock
Unsure if it will ever sail again
My moonless heart
Remains still
Like a sailboat without a breeze
He studies the sky
Without constellations
Finding a single star
That winks back
Advising him
A ship only looks forward
Reminding me
Of the girl I haven’t met
Where is she now
Does she admire the night sky
Is she loved
Or is her heart moonless too

Flying to Las Vegas this morning. (Don’t ask me why, I loathe gambling.) Lonely Author will find something to entertain him in Sin City.

I would tell you all about my little vacation when I get back, but what happens in Vegas……blah, blah, blah.

  2. I appreciate the sweet vulnerability in this. It’s quite special that the theme of human connection seems to keep coming up in your work. How hopeful it is that somewhere, someone understands. So although this is sad and makes me want to give you a hug, your words are very encouraging. Instead of focusing on what we don’t have, “Finding a single star” brings us back to the beautiful possibilities yet to come. Have loads of naughty fun in Vegas! What a great way to start 2019 🙂

    1. Human connection is important to me, guess that ius why it appears in my writing.
      Good observation.

      The poem was sad, but it also focused on hope and the expectations of the wonders
      that tomorrow may bring.

      I love the way you broke down my little poem. Grateful for every word.
      By the way, hugs are always accepted here. LOL

      Vegas was wonderful. Did so much. Saw some great shows and even did some blah blah blah.

  11. I started to write something and it got lengthy and my app crashed. I’ve now lost my train of thought. Anyways have fun in Vegas. You don’t have to gamble! You could go food-hopping, shopping, go to those (outrageously-priced-yet-was-often-told-worth-it) shows. Ride the roller coaster in NY NY hotel (ha!) or helicopter rides… hmmmm.. what would thrill Andrew? Anyways have fun!

  19. I hope you had a great time. I went there once on a work trip years ago and I went for a jog in front of the Bilaggio at night. My coworkers thought it was a riot because they all went drinking instead. lol! Hope you had fun Drew! Your writing is beautiful as always. You will find her… 🙂
