with every passing day
my insanity blossoms
like pink carnations
in a garden of abnormalities
for her inspirations are delusions
that cling to my mind
like a crazy apparition
in my forsaken memory
her words became my asylum
in the circus of this mind
and she the ringmaster
that caused my manic instability
oh, how the doctors fail to see
my muse clasps
unforgettable words
inside my head
with her Velcro poetry

    1. That kind of insanity is very welcome. Those men in white suits could come and take me away anytime if it means I am crazy in love.
You are generous with your praise. Humbled by your beautiful words. Thank you so much.

And apologies for me late responses. Life has been a challenge.

      1. We all have lives beyond the realm of the virtual world. It is not possible to stay abreast all the time. So no apologies. That settled, you are right…crazy in love is good. It is always a pleasure to read your poems.

  1. This is pain and pleasure in equal, and perfect measure. Beautiful dollops of both. Every line and word speaks to this madness and lushness of love, and it is so… sensual, without even a touch mentioned. And paired with the photo…. The total effect, well, I’m pretty sure I can hear the sirens of WordPress ringing…

    1. LOL . Sirens of wordpress……funny.

Happy you thik i had a good balance of pleasure and pain. Love and wanting can definitely be both. Also delighted you find the sensuality in this poem, where I tried to carefully omit all such references.

Thank you for your wonderful comments. Very grateful for your well thought out comment. Always appreciate your visits.

    1. LOL . Funny you should mention it. Originally i wrote like pink carnations in an asylum of undying love. But garden of abnormalities came to me, and I thought it fity the poem much better.

Thank you always sharing your thoughts o my poetry.

      1. I like that comparison, if I may say so I like the ‘garden of abnormalities’ better too. Though the pink carnation line may spark an entire new piece on its own. And you are very welcome.

  3. Most lovely poem for me.but i am not accused for your all problems, dear think more n more.why do you not take all terrible things in normal is world,my dear friend!!like a circus and for whom it is a asylum. You are a free flying bird which inspires others.

                    1. In an oven’

                      cooked ground beef
                      boiled the lasagna (pasta)
laid the lasagna in a pan
                      added the cooked ground beef
                      ricotta cheese
                      mixed in mozarella cheese
                      did three layers like that

baked in . oven for about 40 minutes

  4. Velcro poetry is definitely something I’ve never ever heard…so unique and completely mental in the best way. Sometimes the way you say things…anyway. That was such an inspired line to end with.

No idea why I started at the end.

    I’ll go back the beginning.

I heart the title a LOT!

I think I can relate to this really well on so many levels. There’s this scene in the Justice League animation series where Poison Ivy is pruning roses at the gates of Arkham Asylum,ย  except she’s lopping off the heads of the flowers instead of the whole stem…this whole section:

    “my insanity blossoms
    like pink carnations
    in a garden of abnormalities”

reminded me of that. So well expressed. When someone has this effect on us, it’s like you can’t see straight for all the beautiful crazy that’s being rammed into your head.

    Loved that part so much.

The delusional inspirations is so effing accurate…oh my gosh. I can’t tell you how many times I write things which Iย  know are inspired by my own crazy love I often feel, then read them and wonder if I was even thinking straight when I wrote them. The answer to which is no I wasn’t.ย  I am rarely thinking straight.ย  I think that’s one reason I liked (okay ‘loved’ but I am censoring the gush factor) this so much. The clinging and clasping…so perfect for this feeling of being captured by love and poetry. (Pretty sure you were subliminally talking about some type of sexy love here although not overtly ) The way you say that she’s causing your insanity yet her words became your asylum? That was so effing poetic and beautifully balanced…she drives you insane but only she can treat your insanity in just the right way you need and want. Love that part.

The ringmaster controlling theย  circus in your mind…painted such a vivid picture and was very very hot. Just in the sense of one person having such control over such ‘manic instability’ and the chaotic scene of a circus ring of of a mind. It was a wowee moment for me.

And the little cheeky finale that the doctors fail to see…I smiled so hard. What do doctors know…especially about how one person can make us feel so lost in poetic love and madness.

Trust your muse, she clearly knows exactly what you need.

This was one of your BEST, post “the dreamy island” poetry.

So you and so so…something naughty, hot and sweet or whatever you usually expect from me. I hate to disappoint you

    1. Velcro poetry. I came up with that line with no need for mokitos or coffee. Just came to me. LOL
And I ask you Fiery, is there a better term for poetry thats sticks in your mind?

Batman referencs on my blog……you get bonus points for that!!! Hey, on the last season of Gotham, they have the hottest Poison Ivy.
But I digress. That garden of absurdities is a perfect line for her. Isn’t it. Really liking your connecting these words on Poison Ivy. So hot in a nerdy kind of way.

Love can make us crazy. We start to question our own sanity. I waas talking about sexy love with the clingy and clasping. Happy you caughty that, but I bet you could find something sensual in an episode of Peppa Pig. (Do I get bonus points for that mention? Probably not). Yes, the insanity she causes with her words and only she, the ringmaster could cure me.

My first wowee from you Fiery. Wowee, I am flattered.

Yes, what do doctors know. Yeah, a bit cheeky. I thought it added a touch to the madness of doctors not understanding his plight of crazy in love.

I agree with you regarding the post island poetry. I haven’t been able to find my true rhythn or voice. I felt I did with tis one.

Thank you for your breakdown. It is a honor and a humbling experience to read your thoughts. Thank you for making me feel like such a lucky man. It is appreciated. xoxoxo

      1. Good morning my Lonely Author.

Thank you for your very thoughtful response. It went down so smoothly with my coffee this morning.

No, I don’t think there’s a better way to describe poetry that sticks to your mind in that way. You nailed it with that, as is clear from everyone’s beautiful praise of that line and so my others.

Batman references for bonus points…you know I’m a fan. How about extra extra bonus points and a mystery prize for being a fan of Gotham? I’ll let you choose.

And which I read is finishing now after season 5????? Why??? They could have kept that show going forever! I may write a sternly worded letter. I’m on season 4 with like, 4 episodes to go and I can’t bare to keep watching so the episodes don’t run out, and I have to start season 5 which is heartbreaking!!!!
I know, the casting of that actress for Poison Ivy was a genius move. And when she blows the spores off that killer plant…so sexy. My nerdy side makes an appearance with anything DC related (and Marvel to an extent) amongst other things. I won’t lie…the nerd in you is kind of hot too so I get it lol.

I will give you a few bonus points for Peppa Pig references. But I definitely wouldn’t find anything sensual in that. Although ….no definitely not.

It is crazy, though. I fully understand that, questioning of sanity when you’re consumed with love. Personally I can’t make sense of it so I’ve given up trying. I think that’s part of the reason I liked this poem so much, you expressed it so on point. I think the only difference is while you’re quietly, though not forcefully, fighting her assault on your sanity, I quite enjoy my ringmaster controlling the circus in my head, but that’s just me ๐Ÿ”ฅ (And as if I wouldn’t catch on to anything sensual you scatter in your poetry. I’m like a heat seeking missile for that stuff)

I won’t go on too long, I know you’re a terribly busy Lonely Author .

Can I just say I love the phase “crazy in love”. So effing accurate.

You have found your rhythm again, I don’t think you ever lost it, I just think you have a tendency to allow yourself to get blocked creatively when much is going on around you. It’s understandable. But you should know that your beautiful poetry is always there under the surface waiting for the right moment to escape onto your pages.

Feel like we’ve had this ‘lucky man’ debate before…?
I’ve got plenty of wowees for you. I just choose my moments carefully. I’m sure there’ll be more.

        1. Gotham too. You know the way to a man’s heart….
The early season of Gotham were kind of scattered. They wrote it with no purpose. No coherent plan of how they were going to do this.
I find season four is when they really got their act together. Adn season five. oh my. There are only two shows left. To be aired at the end of April……all heart beaty here.

          Peppa Pig. Yes, definitely not.

Heat seeking missile… quote my friend Fiery…..”so hot.”

Very grateful for youer words and the Wowee. Will get to work on soemthing else that may warrant a Wowee of its own.

          1. Lol…love that you’re quoting me.
And a wowee work in progress…the mind burns and wanders…

Okay so remind me the way to man’s heart again …don’t want to get lost on the way

              1. Breadcrumbs? From you? ๐Ÿ˜‚
Mr Lonely Author… in this scenario, I am, like the artisan baker , making delicious buns and wafting the intoxicating scent over to you whilst leaving a pile of breadcrumbs in my wake.
But sure, leave some breadcrumbs for the sake of playful fun ๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ”ฅ

  5. Drew,
You.. trying to make sense of your own self: powerful metaphors, worlds which fight inside you; words which clasp. The mark of a great poet! You are a great poet! Period.
The mind is a circus, she is the ringmaster, maniac, delusion, asylum, insanity. Can you feel the quickness of my breath? This poem rips apart hearts and takes souls with it.
    This is a forever masterpiece.
I am not breathing right yet.
Bravo. What did I write? Bravo? That is mild. The word to congratulate you for this poem was not invented yet, Drew.

    1. G,
I am so humbled and grateful for your amazing words of praise. Reading this blew my mind, and well, it overwhelmed me and most likely have me at the point of being ready to be committed. I can almost picture the men in white jackets coming and taking me away to some asylum (where I will be writing future poems in crayon no doubt).
You are so sweet and generous with your kind words. Truly grateful for that.
Oh, you made me day. Thank you for your gorgeous comments. I am humbled and glowing all at the same time.

Thank you so much for being YOU. Always appreciated.

    1. Ah Sharon. There is a wonderful kind of madness to falling in love. And that is w=exactlky what I was aiming for.
Laughing. Switch the gender of course. Flattered you can relate to this.
Thank you for your beautiful comment. Alwasy feel special after your visits.

  7. Ahh, Velcro poetry. I really like that! It’s not just because I sew and velcro is very handy, but I have a wonderful childhood memory of Velcro. This is a deep poem, but not dark. It is full of colour and life. I adore it!

    1. So happy you like it Resa. It is not dark at all if one looks beyond the words. It is about insane love and inspiration. Two things I am certain you are well aquainted with.

Thank you for your beautiful words of appreciation.,

  8. Automatically reminded of the โ€œShe drives me Crazyโ€! The Diary of a Madman, my dear friend Drew, this was a piece of work that perfectly described the lasting effects one can have on a persons mind. โ€œHer words are my asylumโ€. Locked up by literature is such a beautiful symbolism, a poetic prisoner because I know the feeling and to have the words stick to you like Velcro, what a genus reference which is why I love your words so dearly. Itโ€™s insane how you come up with such feeling and artistic metaphoric masterpieces and paint them into words all while reading readers minds.๐Ÿค”. A wonderful ode my dear friend.

    1. You so perfectly depicted my sentiments as I wrote this. A poetic prisoner. There are poets, poems, and words that bewitch us
and linger in our minds and we cannot let them go. Your little missus writes like that.

Flattered and flabbergasted by your amazing praise. Thank you for your incredible support and breakdowns. I am such a lucky man
to have a followers and friend such as you. Thank you so much,. I am eternally gratefjul.

      1. Such a beautiful post dear friend Drew, you are more than a poet, youโ€™re a rhythm writing mind reader because you easily read your audiences thoughts and poetically craft from that it seems.
Your compliments humble both I and my love to the fullest extent, you are to good to us both and we thank you dearly๐ŸŒน. We are the lucky ones to be within your circle and are grateful.

  9. I love this poem, Andrew. So beautifully woven! Thank you so much for the follow. I really appreciate this. However, there is a much better writer than me, whom I strongly recommend you and all your followers. It is my friend Mario Savioni. His novel “Pickles and Tarts” (very short chapters, easy to read), is a story where 54-year-old Frank has been selected by 19-year-old Nicole through a dating site. Frank looks at Nicoleโ€™s photos on the site and is attracted to her beauty. Nicole tells him she has a boyfriend and is not interested in a romantic relationship. She adds: โ€œItโ€™s fun to talk to different people sometimes.โ€ The only apparent thing Frank and Nicole seem to have in common is their interest to write stories. Perhaps they want to meet just to write one together? Now Frank has already started to imagine this story, a story-within-the-main-story. “Pickles and Tarts” is a lovely story of illusion-delusion, dream-reality, non-conformist with the Capitalist system, reflective on love, sex, drugs and human relationships in todayโ€™s world. It is profound and highly intriguing. I recommend these two chapters:

And I also recommend Mario’s poems like this one:

  10. “…in the circus of this mind
    and she the ringmaster
    that caused my manic instability
oh, how the doctors fail to see
    my muse clasps
    unforgettable words
    inside my head
    with her Velcro poetry”
still can’t get over these lines…this was real sensual and the last line was absolutely stellar! I can’t express in words how much I loved your poem! Thanks for sharing! :))

    1. Humbled by your beautiful comment. Very grateful that you appreciated my little poem.
You made me glow with your charming praise. Happy you felt the sensuality here.
Thank you so very much for taking the time out to read and leave your comment.
      It is greatly appreciated.
