is it time
how about now
I ask for the hundredth time
she always replies no
it makes me think
someone broke her heart
or she prefers to be alone
this man needs the inspiration of a sigh
the magic of a woman’s touch
sooner or later
my heart must love again
so I cling to hope
tomorrow I will ask her
is it time
beautiful metronome
my dear devoted friend
If a man needs the inspiration of a sigh, this poem is bound to result in much inspiration, and from many. Sigh. Time can pass so slowly when you’re waiting on something and counting the seconds. 💛

Hello My Lonely Author.
Such a clever little poem today but with almost invisible whispers of longing and need, a little bit of vulnerability covered up with humour and a touch of wit and charm.
That pretty much ticks most of my boxes (behave). I said “most of” lol.
I loved the little twist at the end, just like all the best movies.
Adored the way you personified time as a friend, an out of reach lover, a tease almost.
The constant questioning of her and yourself was so intelligently put together. I was smiling so much. To me, this was very you. Your sense of humour and a little cheekiness and an eff load of creativity. Loved that so much.
The inspiration of a sigh is so great. Who doesn’t need that. A perfectly articulated sigh can inspire wonderful poetry and warm a heart or even touch it with magic. (I will always hone in on any mention of a magical touch)
Clinging to hope and asking yourself of broken hearts and desires for loneliness…so good. Is it Time that has a broken heart…an out of reach object of desire…I love that it could be any of those things. Or perhaps none. It’s your poem lol.
I also loved that the heart “must love again”. That ‘must’ is a powerful little word. And that you spoke in the first person throughout…yes. Perfect for this. I mean, I’d be happy if you did that with every poem but that’s just me.
The metronome…wow. Perfect analogy and image of the perpetual tick tock of time basically…teasing us in its unending progression. Do we want it to speed up, or slow down…or pause completely for a perfect little moment? Doesn’t matter. Time will do what it wants and keep the rhythm going until we’re ready to catch up with it in perfectly timed steps.
Just my little interpretation
So Is it time? I’m sure you’ll know when it is.
Your,
Fiery
P.S
That first image is PERFECT. Like a Dali painting. Amazing choice. Surrealism is very apt for the effed-up-ness of time and its mocking, teasing ways.
Okay, exiting now!
♥
LikeLiked by 4 people
Dear Fiery. Love your interpretation; it is pretty much mine. This is all about the (to quote you) the effed-up-ness of time and one lonely man’s inner thoughts of whether it is time to love again (after a heartbreak).
I am smiling here, because this poem did have much of my personality in it, as much as any other poem I might add; the longing and need, the vulnerability hidden by humor (sorry, I only use one U in my humor). Perhaps my readers will not think so, but this had several parts of me in as you stated.
Thrilled you mentioned movies again, because yes, this had a little twist in the end. He is talking to a metronome (who could only say no). Again you made me smile. The personification when talking of time. I have been using quite a bit of personification since my island vacation (palm trees whispering, talking moon, bird singing a melancholy song). So, your mentioning it makes me happy.
Oh, I definitely NEED to hear the whisper of a woman’s sigh in my ear. So much that; I am working on a poem just about a sigh like that. There is something magical and sensual and
(in my screwed up mind) so manly about being able to make a woman sigh.
As for the must, yes, my heart MUST love again (of course when the time is right). I guess you know that by now. My heartn must love. First person seemed right for this poem, couldn’t or wouldn’t with every poem…..but that’s just me (he says with a wicked laugh).
Your whole little paragraph on the metronome was perfect. That perpectual tick tock can be annoying, agonizing, and sometimes even a bit melancholy. Speed up or slow down. It’s all relative (kind of like that old sick uncle one hides in the closet when company comes over).
Is it time? I don’t know. I will keep askig my metronome.
LOL over your thoughts of the image.
Lonely Author
P.S.
Eternally gratefully for your thoughts, loyalty, and beautiful breakdowns of my words.
You make me feel special. Honored, humbled, and all tingly as well. I appreciate all of your attention, kindness, and thoughts (even the Fiery ones). xoxo

That’s nice, that I make you feel those things. Makes me smile and stuff.
I’ll try to keep the Fiery thoughts and words to a minimum since I think I WAY over do it mostly and I don’t want to lose my dignity around here. I think I may be very misunderstood lol. I just really love your words and so I say a lot when I feel a lot.
I’ll just say two things; that needing to hear a soft sigh in your ear that you made “her” do is incredibly hot and I know exactly what you mean. You’re writing a poem about a woman’s sigh…not sure I can freely comment about that ♥
And I know your heart needs to love. I don’t think it was ever meant to beat alone.
Love,
Fiery

So I have a question, do some of your poems come from the inspiration of the photos or do you write first and add the photo second? I ask because your pictures are so often perfect with the poem.
And yes, I understand that need of a touch…only mine is a strong shoulder to lean on, a passionate embrace, a kiss that you feel to your fingertips…sigh.
By the way, I loved the metronome image. It was one of those surprise metaphors I so enjoy about your poetry.
Oh…and you will be happy to know I’m working on my book again. ☺️ Xoxo

There are images that inspire me. I remember I found the image for the poem Dress Of Sand while on a beach. That image inspired that little poem.
Most of my poems are inspired by music, movies, and so many amazing writers here in WordPress. You did a nice post about music not too long ago, that had me jotting doewn notes for a poem about a musician.
So, in many ways many ladies here in wordpress serve as my muse without ever realizing it. I read poetry that inspires me and even in my conversations with bloggers I get inspired.
I have a file of 4,500 images sent to me by three very close personal friends here in New York as well as my daughter. They are bloggers (who know and follow me) and devoted followers of my blog. We keep our friendship discreet so no one knows they personally know me. But they are always sending images or challenging me with prompts. They send me files of images they find. I am lucky to have supportive people who want see what I can create. I am a very lucky man.
A woman’s gentle touch…..sigh….nothing can replace that. I understand the shoulder thing. I have one that has been used and perhaps abused (LOL).
I put that metronome GIF at the end to surprise everyone. I have never done that in the past. I thought the image of the metronome wagging her finger back and forth in a no would add a touch to this piece.
Grateful and thrilled you like my metaphors. It is something I have worked so hard on to improve. Thank you for pointing it out.
Working on your book. That makes me so happy. I am with you every step of the way. With every paragraph and page you write.
I hope you stay inspired and determined. I know it will be touching; so much like you.
Apologies, for the long winded response. You really touch me with your words. So it is your fault. LOL
Grateful for your support and friendship. Like I said before, I am a lucky man.

Oh, this was brilliant and funny. Really loved this one, Sir Andrew! I could feel your heart and soul in this poem. That desperation to move forward, to make that move, and the frustration of wondering when Time will tell you that it’s right to do so is painted in every word. Love that funny twist at the end though… talking to a metronome the entire time. All it can do is move back and forth, as if waving its finger “no”. Almost teasing you, which is funny because it’s not like it can nod “yes”. Lol. This was too cool, Sir Andrew. Loved it.

But you caught the humor and crazy irony ois asking a metronome anything. She only has one possible reply. LOL

Thank you Lady B. You are a national treasure.

LOL… well, I look at it like this… It’s all about perspective… See (and check this out… this is going to blow your mind lol).. You know how they say life throws you lemons, so add a little sugar and make lemonade? Well, why not turn the metronome to the SIDE and then you will get that YES! See? MIND BLOWN! LOL
You are truly the treasure, Sir Andrew, and I think if you turn that metronome to the side like I suggested you’ll be out and about like Joey Tribbiani in no time! “How you doin’?” Lol.
Okay, I’m going to stop being crazy to be serious… I understand the serious part of this poem deeply and, though a lot of times we think it’s Time holding us back, it’s actually our fear. Time hardly ever thinks it’s the right time, but you just have to follow your gut… your heart. If you wait too long, you’ll miss out on great opportunities and end up asking yourself later “What If”. So, I say go for it. You only get one life, so live it up. 🙂
As for my studio time, yes I’ve been back and forth wearing different hats. Playing mix engineer, singer and all that other music geek stuff. I also managed to write enough posts to last me 4 or 5 weeks so that I’m not stressed out! Woot Woot! lol.

MIND BLOWN is right. WOW . That turns the metronome into a Bobblehead.
I will get a different answer tomorrow. LOL
Yes, our own fear of getting hurt again. Also, I like to make sure I am completely healed, so I don’t let any feelings or doubts carry over from one relationship into the next.
Follow you gut. I try to do that, unless I have a stomach ache.
Happy yo hear you are back in your music thing. I know that is where your passion lies.
Fopur or five weeks of posts?????
I only post twice a week and I could never get that far ahead.
Thank you Lady B. You always inspire.

LOL! Get your answer dude! Just make sure she’s on her side and not facing you… it won’t work.. trust me! lol.
I’m the same way when it comes to moving on. I don’t want anyone to be a rebound and I don’t want to be a rebound for anyone either. That hurts and it just leaves a trail of unnecessary pain. Rather make sure I can focus my heart, my energy and my attention on that one person who truly deserves it and not be playing an emotional tug of war between my past and my present.
Haha! Dare I offer you some Pepto for the stomach aches? That way you can truly hear your gut. Lol.
Yeah, music and writing are my passions… my babies. I can’t do one without the other and yes, I am a person with A LOT on my heart and mind, so writing just seems to flow easily when it’s from my heart. I am now posting twice a week and I’ve made blog changes, so I can devote to other things in my life. Kind of have to thank you for that. You gave advice on a schedule and it seems to be working well for me.
You’re always welcome, Sir Andrew. I do my best to inspire when I can and know that you always inspire people. Stay out of trouble with that metronome!

Stunning poem, Drew. Breathtaking. Apparent clarity that begs not to be touched. The beating of the call for love like the beating of time.
In it’s own way a superb ultimatum to yourself. “is it time”
The promise of tomorrow encapsulated in a “must”
“my heart must love again
so I cling to hope
tomorrow I will ask her”
The friend of solitary lovers; the metronome.
“beautiful metronome
my dear devoted friend”
I wonder how many of us felt or feel this way. Universality is the name of this poem; love touches all of us. We are all its slaves and its masters.
Bravo, Drew. You really took my breath away.
May the promise of tomorrow come sooner rather than later.

Yes, metronome is that tool musicians use to measure time and beat. It can be a sad tool. It is only useful
when someone needs it. Kind of lonely, right?

Hauntingly beautiful! A piece that certainly stays with you because it’s so real. When is it time for the waiting to end… The raw emotion. The vulnerability. Then as always when we least expect it, layered with possibilities. There is the hope of what tomorrow can bring.
