Morning Run

Morning Run

Today, I decided to take my morning run outside the gym to admire the beautiful Florida landscape before it gets too hot. When I arrived at the lake with a running track, a funny thing happened to me.

For some unexplained reason, I sensed the treadmill calling out to me. And honestly, I missed her, too.

Yup, took the workout indoors.

    1. No not really. Wrestling has never been my forte. LOL
But you are right. It would make things exciting.
Thank you for participating in my silliness.

and apologies for my late response. I have been struggling with blurred vision and it wasn’t until
now that I started replying to my back log of comments.
      Thanks

      1. I’ve been told, the best way to escape a gator is to run in zigzags… And there’s actually classes you can attend for proper training in FL. 😝 nice view though. Have a terrific day.

  1. lol, Drew. Remember to run in a zigzag pattern to avoid getting caught.
There is a restaurant in the Gables (maybe Miami) called Red Fish Grill. They have a “Beware of Crocodiles” sign. You should visit. Great food. You can eat outside if you are not afraid of crocodiles πŸ™‚

Enjoy your day, Drew. I love the picture!

    1. LOL . Will the zig zag run confuse the gator or me?

Red Fish Grill is currently closed for repairs due to hurricane damage. I will visit when they teopen. I saw the images in Google. Looks gorgeous. You were right, Coral Gables. Old Cuttler Road. Thanks for the suggestion.

      Have a beautiful day G.

      1. LOL. I am on your side Drew, not on the side of the alligator.

WOW Red Fish is closed. I could swear I dinned there two years ago. Perhaps is just my love for that place that makes its memory so vivid. Everything feels like it happened yesterday.
Have a beautiful and inspiring day, Drew.

  2. Oh yikes I would have stayed indoors too. I find when I walk/run outside dogs seem to follow me or find me so treadmill running is a good thing to me too. I like going no where in a perpetual state of moving. It’s rather soothing to me. πŸ™‚

      1. Oh gosh I know what you mean…it’s been tough to blog for me as well. But I love it here. I love that you compose in your mind when you run. I do this while I work on deep stuff professionally then I have to share! I hope your blurred vision is okay. That concerns me. My daugher woke up blind in her right eye 3 years ago, and I haven’t stopped searching for a cure. I pray she always can see the sun. Amazing how thankful we are isn’t it? Sending healing thoughts and prayers to you! Thank you for your comment back! πŸ™‚ You are an amazing writer.

  3. It’s taken me my whole life, and now your post to finally understand the phrase β€œlater alligator.” All this time, I thought it was just about the rhyme. I feel like I just had a lightbulb moment.

  4. All that is necessary is to wear your crocs rather than sneakers! Problem solved!

Not to mention that you were going for a run not a swim so you already had a head start……. run fast!

  5. Lol, funny as it is, a treadmill is so going nowhere, safely.
I’ll stick to walks in the alleys, with the graffiti and art. Although, I do have some gator art from the alleys!!

    1. Holly, apologies for my extremely late response. My recent vision problems have limited my blogging time, thus messages piled up on me.

Your little welcome made me smile. It can be taken so many funny ways. I am loving Florida. I was meant to live here, alligators, crazy drivers, and oppressive heat and all. Best thing I ever did.

Thanks for the welcome. Appreciate your kindness very much.
And again, apologies for my late response.

      1. That’s quite alright , I am surprised you didn’t make it down to South Beach, it’s really lovely here and you would fit right in.
My best friend lives on Merritt Island, I like to go up there to watch the Rockets blast off. A launch should be coming up soon. I am very sorry to hear your sight is quite an issue for you, wishing you the very best.

        1. Oh, South Beach…heavy sigh. I really thought about Miami and South Beach. That is where my true happiness lies.
I am renting here in Orlando, just in case I get the violent urge to go further south. lol

The vision is what it is. Thanks for your kind words,
Oh, and I am plannning on witnessing some of those launches. Always been fascinated by them.
Thank you have a great evening.

      1. This reminds me of one of the most fearful bike rides I ever pedaled. We were in the Carolina’s on a bike ride we’d never been on before. Through swampy areas. Mind you, it was an actual bike route so people with bicycles were expected to be on it. Somehow my husband and I got separated. The area was hauntingly beautiful. The important word here is ‘hauntingly’. At one point I had to go down a gravel road, across a land bridge where the water was level with the road on either side. And then immediately back up a hill on the other side. Guess what I heard as I approached ….. if you google crocodile sounds you will find out. Never been so scared or pedaled so fast in my life. (for the record I don’t know if it was crocodiles or alligators but it sounded like what I googled!!)

  6. I already commented on this, but I feel I need to add, that after commenting, I then dreamt about an axolotl (like a salamander) in a stream turning into an alligator and chasing me. I was freaking terrified and woke up relieved it was you that was in gator territory, not me! πŸ˜‚. Clearly your post had a big effect!

  7. I still prepare the “danger” of outdoor haha 😁 but I’ll stay away from any place with that warning because what if the alligators also decide that they needed a morning run after you?

      1. Don’t worry Drew, you’re too kind to eat. If an alligator did follow you, it probably just want to boost your motivation to run faster and longer. πŸ˜‚

  8. There is a term for it, I read it in an article before. When you’ve just started on the treadmill and then you actually started running even when it was next day, your body can feel the difference. But I had forgotten what it’s called. Anywho, best to stay indoors when there’s a chance you could be running from an alligator!!!!

  9. Wow, see ya later alligator….after wild crocodile!! You gotta admit, you would have really worked up a sweat running outside though!πŸ˜‰
That wouldn’t have been your basic run of the mill tread.
