sunsets in my soul

sunsets in my soul

her metaphor grazed my lips
reminding me of an island breeze
that trembles my flesh
untouchable words
rejuvenating my heart
as they slowly fill me
with warm verses making me whole
illuminating my days
until they set in my soul

              1. Wait a minute.. Are you building a hut? May all your dreams become reality in your little hut by the beach. On a tropical island ๐Ÿ™‚ Ay, I envy you.

                    1. I remember telling someone to smell the flowers.

Its the rainbows, sunsets, flowers, poetry, little conversations that make life special.
We don’t realize it at the time, but each and every one of them are a treasure.

If I could go back in time and be a little kid again…..when people ask me what
I want to be when I grow up, I would reply Happy.

Be well my dear friend, Te mando fuerte abrazos.

  1. My Lonely Author,

Can you believe I am back. I can’t. It’s making my insides all smooshed up and warm and poetic and stuff.

I adored this poem. Feels like you closed your eyes, allowed this poetic love to take over and let your fingers walk across that page as they pleased, and when they were done, this poem sat staring back at you.
    Am I close, lol?!

Your opening line couldn’t have been more YOU. And the title… perfection. I loved that you placed yourself, your body, within this poem, expressing the length and breadth of what this woman’s love does to you, everywhere.
The eroticism of trembling flesh (I do love that word. And trembling under someone’s touch. One of my favourite things..)

Untouchable words … how perfect. How . Perfect. Sometimes (always) the way our thoughts in our poetry synch is unbelievable. I have a poem, half ready about secret words, precious and only for the eyes of a true love to understand. Reminded me of this so much. That line spoke to me deeply. As though no one can taint them.
You’ve talked of your rejuvenated heart before. It is gorgeous that a person can do that. You show his side to yourself that is so…. tender. Irresistible.

Sleeping hearts can only be awakened by the perfect touch.

It’s amazing that when we are starved of someone, their words, their essence their love all over us, there is a hole, an abyss that can’t be filled with ANYTHING except that person’s words, or poetry or whisper in our ear. I know that feeling. It aches with a pain that can’t really be expressed. And then suddenly, there they are. Illuminating the days.
So deeply true. I am seriously feeling every word and breath and pause of this poem, and all the hidden stars peeking out between the lines.
Your whisper of a mention of the island breeze…oh I LOVED THAT. Reminded me of your Island poetry which is so sexy and delicious.
And the little ‘slowly fills me’…quietly setting fire to your words with that sensual line.

The most beautiful part of this, her words setting in your soul like a sunset. Again… I’m smiling at myself and I’ll tell you elsewhere why I am smiling at that line but let’s just say, a sunset of poetry in your soul can paint a beautiful picture of a tomorrow waiting to be lived until the sun sets one more time and it all begins again.

    Ah….that felt GOOD.
    You are my FAVE. EVER

    1. Welcome back my dear Fiery,

      You were missed.

Hadn’t really thought of it, but that opening line was me (or at least my style). Thanks for pointing it out. I hadn’t noticed.

Happy you liked the title. A few have commented on it. I guess it was perfect for the piece. Thanks. Appreciate it.

Even when I don’t admit it, I usually inject myself in my poems. It is the only way I can create. I do the very same thing with the characters in my novels.

I can tell you the secret to my tender side. When on the beach, I sunbathe with vinegar. Makes me very tender.

Yeah, I have been so busy, I haven’t been able to get into my real island poetry mode. It will come. Returning to beach on Thursday, so it may be sooner than we think.

Sunsets. I live for chasing sunsets. The promise of a beautiful sunset is the promise of tomorrow’s dawn. Oh, there is a poem there. Got it.

Happy to see you back. Grateful for your appreciation and tribute to my poem.

May beautiful sunsets decorate your evenings, gorgeous dawns awakwn your soul
      Thank you always.

      1. Damn, you come up with poetry titles just by talking to me???

I’m way more amazing than I suspected.

A bouquet of these for you, Lonely Author ๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’‹

And just for you, only one burning, beating one of these

  2. The opening phrase sets the tone while delivering a strong metaphor. Like Fiery says, closing the eyes intensifies the feeling. BTW – Selecting the accompanying images must be a difficult task.

    1. Hahaha . Oh, Frank. First delighted you liked the metaphor. Thank you for your lovely words.
As for the photos that accompany my poetry……well, a man must make sacrifices, doesn’t he.
A small price I must pay to please the men folk that follow me.

      Thank you.

  5. “Untouchable words.” !!!!!!!! So powerful to me. Words that can have such incredible impact and yet never physically touch. I love the thought of this, have been fascinated by this since I have begun to contemplate words. Love this.

    1. Just the same way words can be hurtful and leave scars, they can also inspire without ever touching us,
Thank you for your beautiful comment. It makes me happy to know you loved this one. Humbled and
      grateful. Thank you.

  6. Hi! It’s been a minute since I’ve checked your blog out, and as always, still keeping with the freshest and inspirational writings. Enjoyed my visit. Thanks for stopping by to visit mine. Have an amazing day my friend ! ๐Ÿ™‚ – Sherline.

  7. So wonderful Drew, I love the line โ€œuntouchable wordsโ€ but yet her words are so touching that you can feel them. So descriptive, like a breeze that affects the soul. And sunsets are a beautiful thing so it all comes full circle within how she makes the soul feel. Wonderful words my friend.๐ŸŒน

      1. You are most kind Drew, like your poetry, your words are amazing. Yes, there is always a gentle island breeze within me my friend.๐Ÿ˜Š
I will give my Sparkling Freeze your regards, sheโ€™s been busy but she should be writing something soon. Thank you kindly.๐ŸŒน

    1. You are always so sweet Jessica. Thrilled you liked my little poem.
Grateful for your warm visit, too.
I take quite a bit of time searching for the right photo, so your words
made me very happy. Thank you so much. Appreciate your kindness.

  9. You know one of the things I love about your poetry? It is often your muse’s poetry that inspires you…not the physical part. Though of course I know that is important, you are in love with the inside of her…the soul of her. It is her words that “tremble your flesh…” That is significant, because few look beyond the outside these days. Sigh…if only…
Sending a gentle hug on the tropical breeze. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. You have me smiling Melissa. Happy to know that is one of the things you like about my poetry. Have you ever read anything that was beyond words?
That penetrated your skin, and sunk deep into your bones until they became one with your soul? There are a few ladies in WordPress that have that ability to write poetry so beautiful one is forced to read it with one’s heart. I have felt that way about some of your poems.

So, when I speak of my muse, it can be said my muse is a composite of a few female poets. Though, honestly, I have a few favorites.

Words that tremble the flesh, penetrate one’s heart, and stich itself nto my soul. That is what I love writing about (when I am not writing about love and longing of course).

Thank you for your beautiful comment and appreciation. It means so much to me. Sending the tropical breeze right back, with a hug and a gentle kiss.

  10. Yes, I have read many things that have become a part of me…from Shakespeare to Anne of Green Gables to some of your poetry dear friend. I have found that they resonate with me, because there is an element of truth to them that seem to just “stitch itself” to my soul as you so descriptively said. I’m humbled and very flattered that you consider some of my poetry museworthy. I truly am…the Don Juan of poetry finds me museworthy…wow! ๐Ÿ˜€ (I really do think you need to do a poem one day called the Don Juan of Poetry. haha!)
Seriously, I am smiling, because of your comment. When the breeze touches your cheek tonight, it’s my kiss xoxoxo

    1. Thank you for saying that Melissa. Humbled my dear friend. Your writing is very museworthy. All I ask is that you stay

The Don Juan or Poetry, LOL . Can’t imagine myself writing that.
Very happy to make you smile. I bet it is gorgeous.
I shall be waiting for that breeze. xoxo
