if I give you all the love

if i give you all the love

I give you my vulnerability
the crescendo of my final breath
my vagabond shadow
so yours never has to walk alone
take the beauty of my quixotic dreams
the circus of my lunacy
the heat of my voice
to evaporate your tears
for its you
my love
who has etched
your words on my bones
my goddess of poetry
what to do
my love
to gain your attention
to win your heart and affection
perhaps, you will be mine
if I give you all the love
no one ever gave to me

  1. There is so much warmth in these words ……read it twice and couldn’t help noticing how it comes to a full circle ……. asking to give vulnerability in the beginning and ending with words that truly exhibit a vulnerable heart ……….a masterpiece truly

mesh well with the lunacy of a special lady. I always cling to the hope of love. What could be more beautiful.

  4. To have words engraved on one that it runs deeper than a tattoo is a lasting love. Vocals that goes to the bone are never ending and your words about giving love that one never received, to share so much accumulated love on the one whoโ€™s words are etched in your soul…the return is glorious just like your poem.๐ŸŒน

  5. You had me at “my vagabond shadow” – I mean, who other than the lonely author can conjure up a phrase so beautifully, and adorn it with melodious, meandering rhymes – all leading to a powerfully philosophic finale – like so many various rivers – both triumphant and turbulent, finally meeting the tranquil sea?
An absolute masterpiece, Drew, but then again, all that you write is, always, nuanced to flawless, flowing perfection!

    to evaporate your tears”
    “who has etched
    your words on my bones”
    and
“if I give you all the love
no one ever gave to me”
These three sets of lines gave me goosebumps. Your poetry is … beyond words to describe its value. You should write a book of poetry to your muse. This is one of your best here!

          1. It’s brutal … I can’t believe how HOT it is. I’ve been living in Florida since 1989. This year is the 1st year I’m finding it brutal. Very early mornings and late evenings for errands and pool swimming.
I got a flat today. I thought I’d be dead by the time AAA arrived (1 1/2 hrs.) the woman felt my anxiety and sent someone sooner … and … I was in my airconditioned car. YIKES … I’ll keep you posted if November cools down. ~~~ : – )

  7. In so many ways, to me, you resemble Leonard Cohen. Isolation, sexuality, love, relationship, hidden sadness, melancholy, longing for โ€ฆlove of exquisite words. His poetry and your poetry make me want to read and re-read it over and over and every time I read, I see, feel something new. English not my native tongue and sometimes I have to plug words into Google because I know this or that word is so deep, I need to know synonyms to truly feel itโ€ฆ I love your writing.
Well, I came from the country where we love to be melancholic anyways, hahaha

    1. This is such an amzing and powerful comment. The comparison, which I find unimaginable….i mean wow.
The things you mention with Cohen, are many of the themes in my poetry…longing, love, sexuality,
and yes, the underlying theme of hidden sadness. Very perceptive of you.

What language do you speak? Very curious where “we love to be melancholic” is. Smiles

Thank you for your amazing comment. Honestly, i am so humbled by your generous praise. It really
touches me. And the comparison… eternally grateful.
