the promise of your dawn

“There are two ways of spreading light. To be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it.” – Edith Wharton, novelist, playwright, first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Literature .

I always thought of my friend Miriam of Out an’ About as an inspiring ray of light. She takes you on adventures highlighting stunning Australian landcapes while sharing a piece of her caring soul. Her journeys of gratitude, love, and family, leave you cherishing every moment. I’ll never forget how just a few years ago, during sad moments of family loss, her warmth, wisdom, and love still shined through all the darkness. She inspires people to be the best they can be. Visit Out an’ About. Bask in the glow of one of the Inspiring Women of WordPress.

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming…..love.

the promise of your dawn

we made love on a beach
to a serenade of palm leaves
as moon glow illuminated the night
or was it the brilliance of your eyes
i remember your jasmine lips
tasting of honey and eternity
shooting stars came in waves
our inhibitions drowned in open seas
that night as you slept in my arms
i traced sunsets in your hair
in hopes of awakening
to the promise of your dawn

What an amazing quote. I never thought when I began my blogging journey, over five years ago, that I’d be referred to in this light. My friend, poet extraordinarie and incurable romantic at heart Andrew, aka, The Lonely Author, has begun a new series of posts honouring some Inspiring Women of WordPress and I feel incredibly humbled to be chosen as the first.

We’re all inspiring. Each and every one of us shines our light, every time we publish a post that exposes our talents and travels, our hardships and triumphs and our heart and vulnerability.

I feel immensely grateful to be where I am, sharing my words in the company of so many talented bloggers from all around the world. Thank you again Drew. You honour all women every time you publish one of your beautiful poems.

To all the amazing women out there, never forget how fierce and strong and awesome you all are. Here’s to all of us raising each other up.

Head across to his blog and allow yourself to be swept up in a world of warmth, love and passion.

I wish I was half as inspiring as you.

As for women, sigh. They are a gift to this wonderful world we live in.
Life wouldn’t be the same without them. They need to be cherished, adored,
and respected for the power they possess and the beauty they radiate.

Thanks for the kind gesture of the reblog. appreciate your wonderful
support and light. Thank you always for shining over us.

  5. My Lonely Author,

I wanted so so much to comment on this and just couldn’t.  So forgive me. But I’m here and I’ve read it quite a few times (nothing new there) and I just feel like I should say one or two things about this because if I say more than one or things about this then I fear I won’t be able to properly control and/or censor myself in an appropriate and ladylike manner, know what I mean?

    So

When you get all…sensual it’s a little hard to take (behave).

I already read between the lines of the title. “…your dawn” for me means…what you are probably guessing it means to me.

The first four lines of this were pure YOU in love and desire. Dreamy and warm (by which I mean hot and achingly gorgeous )

Jasmine and honey…sigh.  Evoke memories of the island I am from. The scent of jasmine is everywhere…pure honey from the sweetest blossoms mingled with the taste of eternity non her lips…god sakes… I may be in love with that part…don’t be jealous lol

    “…shooting stars came in waves
our inhibitions drowned in open seas…”

I mean…are you trying to make me lose my usually very articulate words? Because you managed it. Don’t make me pull apart that section. ..Please. It is unbelievably sensual and quietly, beautifully provocative.

And then…what more could any woman want after being loved to death on a beautiful beach than to be held and caressed with such tenderness as you placed in your closing lines.

I just CAN’T EVEN with this poem.

Just. Crazy beautiful and painfully sensual.

    SIGH

    Your,

    Fiery

      1. Hey, yes, I am ok. I’ll be heading back to work next week. I think it will be good for me, I’m noticing I’m feeling a little blue lately (ok, a euphemism for struggling with my mood). I’ll be ok though.

For some reason I think your surgery is on Friday? How do you feel about it?

        1. No, my surgery is next Tuesday, the 19th.
I am good. Suffering quite a bit of shortness of breath.
Talked to the doc via video chat.
He says I will be okay. just need to take it easy for four more days.

going back to work? hopefully, that will do you good./
the change of scenery and feeling like you are getting back to “normal”
          should be a positive.

let me tell you i have missed you
          think about you a lot
          worry too
don’t let anything get you down.
know somewhere under the sunny florida sun
          csomeone cares for you
I will write you one of my run on sentence never ending ramble this weekend

          1. Tuesday…
Anyway, punctuation is entirely overrated is it not?
I think I could get into it, except for commas
I’d find it hard to give those up
Or maybe you just press enter instead?
            And maybe question marks
I don’t know what you do about those
Just forget about them I guess
            They can be assholes anyway
            Quite self important
Let me tell you I missed you too
I’m glad you have video chatted with the doctor
Sometime I’d like to hear more about what the surgery and recovery entails
Hope you’re sleeping and enjoying sunny Florida
            ❤️
