During a depressing night where my headaches and dizzy spells drained any hope I had, I reached for my phone and discovered an email with a voice recording.
There were delightful pauses in this one sided conversation, but everything about the message, her soft voice, her pauses, her sweetness revitalized me.
Sadly, this little poem does not do justice. I dedicate this to that voice to die for. Thank you. 🌹
a voice came to me
loneliness thundered
when a soft voice came to me
landing on my five o’clock shadow
like a lightning bug
determined to tickle my cheek
while her little healing light
outshined my torment
stifling the echoes inside my heart
as her deafening silence spoke to me
her voice shined like the stars
illuminating my night
resembling a constellation of fireflies
absorbing the darkness
in my universe of misery

Good God Almighty, Drew. Just read Your post about being stranded. My heart and prayers are with You. As are so many people’s…I think if we could all see the Love and Prayers encircling the planet right now our minds would be blown. Well, the thing is I am in the Dominican Republic not the United States. Here the the lockdown is until
April 30th. I already booked a flight for the first plane out of here on May 1st.

I can only wish you success in your waiting… As we all are.
Our schools now have shuttered for the remainder of this year. We are supposed to cover our faces when out…(at least in stores… though some also do so when walking around the block…)
This is a very trying time for those huggers among us… all we can use is our words.
May they wrap around some of the empty spaces to bring you some comfort.
