Inspiring Women of WordPress: beautifully broken you

I will try to revitalize my series of Inspiring Women of WordPress with a monthly post.

“There is no perfection, only beautiful versions of brokenness.” – Sharon L Adler, inspirational author of 300 Questions To Ask Your Parents Before It’s Too Late.

Life has an amazing way of touching us. During these months of illness and recovery, my precious friend Rachel of In Mind and Out, has reached out to me in my loneliest moments, lifting my spirits. We often joke about being “broken.” This wonderful poet and caring woman fails to see the beauty of her imperfections as her brokenness helped repair mine. Please, get to know Rachel, one of the Inspiring Women of WordPress.

beautifully broken you

fragments of a mirror
reflecting multiple moons in the night
making the parts
more beautiful than the whole
fractured sunsets
of healing warmth and light
in need of an ointment of poetry
to cure a jagged soul
shatterd moonlight and splintered sunsets
create a stunning view
reminding me of my darling kintsugi
beautifully broken you

Poetically translated to “golden joinery,” Kintsugi, or Kintsukuroi, is the centuries-old Japanese art of fixing broken pottery. Rather than rejoin ceramic pieces with a camouflaged adhesive, the Kintsugi technique employs a special tree sap lacquer dusted with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.

  1. This is a wonderful piece Drew and when I say piece, I mean that in a whole way. I love the title and what it represents, it truly inspires just by reading. The beautiful thing about a mirror is even when broken, it makes our reflection whole and I love how you symbolized that, amazing work my friend.🌹

    1. Roy, so grateful for your beautiful message. A broken mirror does make our reflection whole. It can even
enhacne the image before it. Beautiful thoughts. Happy you read this.

I want to continue this series. I will be doing it once a month, because it does take time to research and
set it up the way I want. (Very picky about quote and all) lol. I really would be humbled if Ms Sparkles
allow me to do one featuring her. So, at some point after my heart surgery, I will bring it up again with her.

Thank you so much my dear friend. I am humbled just being able to say you and Sparkles are my friends.
      Thank you and be safe.

      1. You are so correct Drew, the mirror indeed enhances our reflections and the way you worded it was beautifully stated.
The way you are doing these series are priceless and wonderfully gorgeous and something like this must be done with time I should think.😉. I feel that Ms Sparkles and myself would be so honored if you were to feature her in one of your exclusive Inspiring Women, she is amazing in my eyes indeed and she would love it, especially from the likes of you. I know your heart surgery will go well because you have a big heart so the problem will be easy to fix, I hold you in my prayers my friend.
We are the lucky ones to have you as our friend, you have been and are one of our biggest supporters, we send many hugs and love to you dear friend Drew. Stay safe during this crazy time.

And continueing to be so, just being at home really! So the only thing I can catch is the freaking-annoyed-by-mass-hysteria-bug! LOL. I mean, who hired these mass media lemmings? Not helpful the way they report/ write/ broadcast… Anyways, let me stop ranting haha. Ayer fue mi cumpleeee!!! Y logre pasarmela bien y todo! Ole:) I am helping friends from home, via video/ phone/ writing etc…. I am staying IN until most people calm the f down haha. Thanks for your concern though sweetheart!! Appreciate your kindness!!! I see all this happening as a necessary evil… things n this world NEED to change and I DO hope this is the transformation. Transformations happens through crises… OCEANS APART Sweety! Mil besos!!! Have a good feeling about your operation being posponed! There will be better vibes end of May for sure. Mil besos!!!

        1. I completely understand and agree. The media has ignited a hysteria that may be more dangerous than the actual virus.

Oh, you didn’t see my post from Sunday? The Dominican Republic government has suspended all flights in and out. I am stuck here until May. Operation cancelled. It igve me more time to build my strength and get ready. End of May.

          A little bruja, too???? Baahahahahahahaha
Te voy a escribir. Cuidate mucho

Oh, I have been working on Ambassador of Love. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Panik worsens EVERYTHING and heals NOTHING. Joy, humour, pragmatism etc helps… I grew up with people who were in the second world war, so were in real life or death danger daily for years…. this to me is more a mental health crisis… of course it still sucks that people die etc… but people die every day of stuff… no se… totally agree with your assessment anyways. YEAH ambassador of LOOOOVE is coming… hold on to your seats ladies and gentlemen!!! Better get those big lips ready Mr. Ambassador… lol lol lol. Mil besotes!!!

  4. Dear Lonely,
I’m thrilled that you have once again embraced your series, Inspiring Women of WordPress.
Rachel and I are recently met blog friends, through your Thank You post and my tribute post. She is quite wonderful, and totally deserving of this honour!
She will be my visit after posting this comment.
The poem is ripe with myth and mystic. Dedicating to Rachel, has brought forth the concept of Kintsugi.
I feel you will be Kintsugi, one day. Then, dusted with gold, your poetry will be more magic and sensual than ever.
Please, take best care of yourself, while in waiting! 💜

    1. Ah, Ms Inspiring Purple Heart,

You encouraged me to return to the series. I will do it monthly, because it does take some energy out of me.
But you inspired me to do it. I have told you you are very inspiring. Believe me now?

Rachel is a sweetheart. Gentle, caring, very giving. An inspiring, beautiful woman. (Should you wish to meet
someone else like that, please refer to your nearest mirror).

Grateful you will visit her. She writes about brokenness like no other poet.

Now, back to the poem. You think i will, be Kintsugi one day. May heart needs mending in so many ways.
      Got crazy glue?

While in waiting……do you have a little witch in you? You kept mentioning that flight. Did you know
that was going to happen? I should have followed your instincts.

I will be well. Taking my meds. Working on the refills.
      Will keep you posted.

Now, go inspire me with a gown.
      ❤️👗

Thank you for pointing the way to another gifted writer. Of course I followed Rachel who very much is so alike with you. Bless you for touching me today in so many ways. Bless you! xo

    1. Humbled and grateful for your beautifuland touching comment. It reached my soul like
a soft hymn. Aren’t we all beautifully broken in our own little ways? We just need
to learn to accept it. It is our brokenness that makes us different, beautiful, and
      interesting.

You will enjoy Rachel’s poetry. And the poet behind the poems, ah, fine wine. Not saying
she gets betteer with age, actually, forget it. you know what that means. lol

Thank you for sharing your beautiful words and reaction. It made this sunny day even
brighter. But you have a talent for making things more beautiful.

      Bless you always. xo

      1. Yes, Drew, we are all beautifully broken. That is what makes us unique and when we DO accept us for who we are, we are transformed into magical beings. And the way you explained about the Kintsugi technique was just exquisite. I absolutely adored the idea of patching ceramic like this. How fascinating!! We all could use the Kintsugi technique on ourselves!
I just saw that Rachel found me. LOL I can’t wait to read her comment to me. It is because of you, dear friend, that others of like mind are coming into my life. You are the light and I am following that light. (smile)
You sound SO much better! I am SO thrilled for you! BIG (((HUGS)))!! xo

We gulp and revel in the bubbly glow. I did not fully respond before ….Life Interruptus, Inc. LOL I am humbled and grateful to you in return. FYI … it takes two to create beauty between two. SMILE

  6. This one spoke to me in so many ways, I truly believe there is beauty in brokenness for only when we are broken we truly find ourselves ………the cracks make way for divine light to seep in and we become one with our soul.
Kintsugi has always inspired me …..there is an incomplete verse in my drafts on it….now you’ve inspired me to finish it

I was just telling a friend what a sad Palm Sunday. Can’t even go to church today. Maybe all of this was meant to be a reminder that he is there. Definitely, a reminder that we should appreciate the gift of life more than we do.

Thank you for your lovely comment.
      Appreciate your kindness.
