when i inhale your poetry

Today, I am happy to annouce Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings, a wonderful book from my precious friend Gabriela of Short-Prose-Fiction has been published. Always rich in vivid images and powerful metaphors, her poetry and prose will leave you breathless.

Order Here!

Speaking of breathless, here is a little poem I wrote for the occasion…..

when i inhale your poetry

when i inhale your poetry
i exhale melancholy syllables
leaving the atmosphere breathless
from your words
the heavens slowly appear
in your bedroom like a lonely apparition
as i blow winter auroras
through the autumn of your hair
leading to our first kiss
below the echo of a metaphor
where we watch moon glow
escape our trembling lips
in a misty sigh
of love

  1. Omg I’m the first to comment!! Haha or so I’ll think right now. My goodness when i first read that i thought it was a compilation of your love poems that were published. Even so it takes a big heart to wish another with so much joy and furthermore to share one of you delightful works as well… I loved the lines: “as i blow winter auroras through your autumn hair”…

    1. Hahaha
I guess people were to shy to comment. I should give out prizes for the first commentor.

Oh, I wanted to promote my friend Gabriela. She has her first book of poetry published,.
Very happy for her. And I wanted to share the joy and special moment.

Your comments always tuch me Querida. So sweet of you. This poem evolved around the lines
of the auroras and autumn of your hair. So your pointing it out thrills me. You can’t
      imagine how much.

Thank you for this beautiful comment. I am really touched by everything you said.
Thank you from the deepest part of my heart and soul.

  2. G’s book is fabulous, I completely agree. I could not love it more. I keep telling her, I can’t help it.

Drew…. I will never believe you again about your opening lines being the weakest part of your poetry.
    β€œwhen i inhale your poetry
i exhale melancholy syllables”

Well, sigh and sigh with the beauty of this, exactly as your opening lines describe. In fact, your whole poem is like the most beautiful and heavenly description of the experience of reading your words..
    β€œas i blow winter auroras
through the autumn of your hair”

You both filled my lungs and left me breathless with this whole poem. Don’t mind me while I poetically faint, I’m sure I’ll come to eventually.

    1. Rachel, you make me sigh.

First, I am so anxious to get my hands on Gabriela’s book. But I am one of those dinosaurs that
still cherishes the feel of a book in one’s hands. I need to feel the texture of the pages as I
taste the flavours (I believe that is how you spell it. lol) of her words. So when I am back in
      Orlando, I will order it.

Maybe your enchanting ability to write these opening lines have rubbed off on me. Ever considered that?
I have been working so hard on these openings, to be honest, some of my other recent opening lines are
better, in my humble opinion, but this poem had to start this way. So, I am very grateful for your
beautiful appreciation. Thank you for saying that.

You almost have me in tears reading your beautiful praise. You don’t know how you have touched me.
I never thought I would have people saying these things to me. I never thought my poetry was worthy of
any of this praise. I am humbled and even shaking a bit as I write this reply.

To think, months ago, I was so ready to give up on everything (my writing, the blog, even life) and you
and a few other dragged me out of this funk. Now, all of you have me creating poetry I never thought I
could write. It is an experience that words fail to describe.

Grateful for your words Rachel. May life forever blow happiness, sunshine, and love through the autumn
      of your hair.

        1. Let me compose myself. Punam just made me cry with her praise.

Why? Why do I have a hut near the beach now? After so many years of dreaming of it.
Why do I feel like a poet now? After so many years of wishing it?

          Why now?

Is it just so I can a brief taste of it?

          1. Punam is a sweetheart and always writes from her heart. She will mean every word she wrote.

These things will not be a brief taste. They will be a long lived flavour that you will be able to savour for many many years to come. I have a very good feeling about this. I just do.

My sourdough starter has been restarted (My first attempt went bad, or rather, I thought it had and chucked it only to be told by those in the know that it was probably still good. I figured when both my sons reeled at the scent, it was best to start over!) I’m doing a quicker start following the instructions of a chef friend… If all goes well, in four days I’ll be making bread!

    1. I tried to pen something that began to paint the way I feel when I read her poetry.
It is heavenly, a garden of metaphors and beauty that she sows with her hands and
      grows from her beautiful soul.

Thank you for contributing your wonderful thoughts to this post for Gabriela.
I am certain she appreciates your kindness and words, as do I.

Be well my friend. Stay safe and inspired.

      1. G is a pearl necklace, a summer sunset, a woman of elegance and style.

Don’t know about writing a poem for her. She is a very private person. I think she
prefers for everyone’s attention to be on her poetry and not her. So, honestly,
not sure what to say to you. I know you have the best of intentions.

Sometimes, it just better to leave things alone my friend.
This way no one gets hurt, offended, or confused.

        You are very kind.
Youy heart is made of gold.
I wish you and everyone in your heart infinite love, happiness, and peace.

    1. Sometimes I think there is nothing as magical as a first kiss. That moment when two lovers
share the intimacy of sharing their lips. Just thinking of it makes me sigh.

Paradise is treating me well. I just sit under a palm tree, feel the island breeze, and write
poetry while I eat mangoes, pineapples, and watermelon.

Thank you for your beautiful words and appreciation. So blessed by your kindness and warmth.
      Grateful and flattered.

    1. William, I am flattered and touched that you thought of me for this award.
      Appreciate your kind nomination.

However, I am so swamped between editing my manuscript, creating new poery for my blog,
and keeping up with these comments, I barely have time to enjoy me life.
So, I have to decline the wonderful offer.
I hope you understand and I hope you are not offended. My timme constraits do not
allow me to participate and the giving of receiving of awards.

Hope all reminas cool between us.

  6. Good evening Drew.
I apologize for my late reply. I am grateful and humbled by your gesture. Your thoughtfulness is a gift I will always treasure. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing my book with your followers.
Your poem is a dream; a gorgeous dream under the moon’s glow; in the breathless atmosphere the autumn of the hair – blown with winter auroras – covers the kiss. Drew, you are a fabulous poet.
You have a heart of gold.
    My soul smiles.
I am enchanted and once again humbled by your gesture. I do not know what else to say.
