dancing leaf

dancing leaf

a dry leaf dances
when the cool wind
drags and pushes her away
reminiscent of the fashion
you discard my love
for every time we get close
‘til our souls are almost one
you become a gentle breeze
softly caressing my heart
then, you’re gone

  1. So delicate that the softest of sweet nothings whisps them out of reach. A wonderful poem that describes intimate moments missed for many of us.

                  1. Ah jeez.
My brother-in-law (age 49) was brought to the Montreal Cardiology Institute by my sister because she didn’t like his signs (and, after losing my husband to a heart-attack, she knew what signs to look for) – three days later he had triple bypass.
And, he’s now home, recovering slowly so, guess what, Drew? I am confident you will get through this. It is maybe what it is but let’s consider you one of the lucky ones who is fixable. xoxo

                    1. Well, I should think so… they do crack open your chest, take a vein from your leg and rebuild the connections… (at least for him, they did). He was in a lot of pain but every day he feels stronger and stronger. So yes. Do get it done and you will overcome it.
I didn’t mean to sound smart-alecky when I said you should feel lucky.
                      xoxo

  4. Good to see you Drew. Another surgery? I hope it goes well for you. I just had surgery myself on July 6th, for breast cancer. We are warriors, think positive thoughts, and never give up. ❤

  5. Drew, when you write poems, do you listen to music for inspiration? Or does silence and solitude bring out the words better? This poem sounds as if it was written looking out at quiet nature. It’s lovely and very sensitive. 📚🎶❤️ Christine

So glad to see you back Drew. How are you doing? Back to normal strength?

  8. It’s like a cold wind leaving its mark, here today… gone tomorrow but you’ll feel the chills even when the sun rises. It pushes us, we know it’s there even though we can’t see it. Such emotional beauty and symbolic notes my friend Drew, heartfelt poetry becomes you.🌹

  9. It’s lovely to see your work again Andrew! I think this poem can have lots of interpretations (which I love because it could mean so many things to different people). I picture a woman afraid to take the next step, wanting to be close to someone but also holding a fear that makes her push away.
