Misplaced Laughter and Broken Dreams

Misplaced Laughter and Broken Dreams

.

After a night of fighting demons

she awakens to a lonesome world of

misplaced laughter and broken dreams.

.

A melancholy stranger who has forgotten

how to live occupies her fractured mirror,

an unwanted spirit in a reoccurring theme.

.

She inhales oxygen and exhales pain as she

lives her lonely life with a nostalgic longing

to rediscover the happy girl she used to be.

The Firefly Who Wanted To Be A Star

The Firefly Who Wanted To Be A Star

Once there was a tiny
firefly who wanted to
glow upon this world.
A task impossible for
one lonesome bulb.

Every night she shined
so bright yet she never
became a star. Until all
her little friends joined in
 to illuminate the dark.

One firefly alone could
never change a world,
but thousands working
together can create a
universe here on Earth.

My wife found this image in Google and asked me to write a poem about the Firefly who wanted to be a star.

Forever Chasing Dreams

Forever Chasing Dreams

There lived a boy who
loved chasing dreams.
But he quickly learned
they can be as elusive
as feathers in the wind.
Always within his grasp
yet forever out of reach.

Before long he learned
the winds never cease.
So he kept on reaching.
The boy refused to stop.
Ignoring every naysayer
he lived a life determined
forever chasing dreams.

Broken Dreams

Broken Dreams

Emily packed her broken
dreams into a suitcase she
hid In the back of the closet
as if they were treasured
memorabilia from a show

She knew they would be
safe there from intruders
and any pest who would
want to rekindle memories
of her lost life of the past

Her unfulfilled dreams will
be stored forever and a day
so she’d never be nostalgic
so she could forget them and
perhaps never dream again

I dedicate this to all the mothers out there who packed their dreams away.

Dreams On Hold

IMAG6205

Photograph taken by unknown source. It is the only remaining photo of Lonely Author’s mother.

This is for every woman who made the sacrifice of putting their dreams on hold.

Dreams On Hold

Once upon a time
She met a man
Placed her dreams on hold
She slaved for a boss
Ran home to cook meals
Birth a little treasure
Years of housework
Abuse and neglect
Devoted herself to husband’s pleasures
Sacrificed for everyone
Gave up everything
Including herself
And her happiness
Her boy is living his dream
She missed the train of life
Everyone left her behind
She lived unappreciated
Forgotten
Alone
Sad but so true
People forget
Little girls have dreams
too
