Inspiring Women of WordPress: beautifully broken you

I will try to revitalize my series of Inspiring Women of WordPress with a monthly post.

“There is no perfection, only beautiful versions of brokenness.” – Sharon L Adler, inspirational author of 300 Questions To Ask Your Parents Before It’s Too Late.

Life has an amazing way of touching us. During these months of illness and recovery, my precious friend Rachel of In Mind and Out, has reached out to me in my loneliest moments, lifting my spirits. We often joke about being “broken.” This wonderful poet and caring woman fails to see the beauty of her imperfections as her brokenness helped repair mine. Please, get to know Rachel, one of the Inspiring Women of WordPress.

beautifully broken you

fragments of a mirror
reflecting multiple moons in the night
making the parts
more beautiful than the whole
fractured sunsets
of healing warmth and light
in need of an ointment of poetry
to cure a jagged soul
shatterd moonlight and splintered sunsets
create a stunning view
reminding me of my darling kintsugi
beautifully broken you

Poetically translated to “golden joinery,” Kintsugi, or Kintsukuroi, is the centuries-old Japanese art of fixing broken pottery. Rather than rejoin ceramic pieces with a camouflaged adhesive, the Kintsugi technique employs a special tree sap lacquer dusted with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.

an imperfect flower (For All Women)

Real beauty is in the fragility of your petals. A rose that never wilts isn’t a rose at all.” – Crystal Woods, author, stage coach, pro bikini athlete, child abuse advocate.

When I think of this Inspiring Woman of WordPress , I think of delicate flowers. As a little girl, she admired the prairies. As a young woman she overcame adversity and bloomed into a Costume Designer dressing the stars of film & television. That is the inspiring story of my precious friend Resa at Art Gowns. To see videos of her stunning creations click here. Her beautiful sketches & sweet personality always touches my soul. Resa doesn’t make gowns, she creates wearable poetry.

an imperfect flower
grows in a flawless garden
forever afraid to bloom
ashamed of her weather-beaten stem
and frail leaves
she fails to understand
her damaged petals
are what makes her beautiful

Inspiring Women of WordPress

Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength. – G.D. Anderson

Inspiring Women of WordPress

National Domestic Violence Awareness Month falls in October. November 25th is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Of course the holidays is a time of giving, showing appreciation, and love. After that comes my favorite day – Valentine’s Day.

I want to do something special for some inspiring women I have met here in WordPress. Sort of spreading and sharing the inspiration.

Starting Monday through the week leading up to Valentine’s Day, I will introduce a different Inspiring Woman of WordPress. You will meet doctors, poets, great motivators, teachers, designers, and mothers, the most sacred (and thankless) of professions.

I will still be posting poetry (and my other nonsense) but a different talented lady will be highlighted with every post. On some weeks I will break my self imposed two posts a week rule.

I hope you join me to celebrate the world’s greatest resource – WOMAN.
