Do you like Happy Endings?

Minds out of the gutter perverts and pervettes. I am talking about in books and movies.

Closing a book where your hero achieved his goal makes you feel good. And don’t you love leaving the movie theater with a smile on your face?

But it is the shocking ending or tragic ending that is memorable.

For Whom The Bell Tolls, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, Of Mice and Men, Romeo and Juliet, Gone With The Wind, The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, all classic examples of tragic (memorable) endings in literature.

At the theater who can forget these endings? American Beauty, Titanic, Schindler’s List, The Sixth Sense, Philadelphia, The Green Mile, and the list goes on and on.

Even science fiction has had its share of sad endings. 1984 and the original Planet of the Apes are two examples.

Want to write something unforgettable – you guessed it. Tragic ending.

So, which do you prefer?

Do you like happy endings?

Devil Girl Diaries 5 – (Subway Surprise)

1ae95f0f-5624-4fe8-a38f-e702d369d344

Every man has that one unforgettable woman that will haunt him until his final day; the girl that got away. Allie detested television, vanilla ice cream, and missionary. She explored the depths of her sexuality; while I discovered the heights of my pain. My muse had a nickname. I called her Devil Girl. I write these words to ease my sorrows. My name is Andrew.

This is our story.

the 1 train pulled into the station

bringing a wind with it

lifting Devil Girl’s skirt to heaven

exposing her bare derrière

sending my poor heart to hell

so much for the shy girl next door

Allie boarded the train

followed by a horde of men

I entered through another door

she clutched a metal bar

a construction worker stood behind her

she pressed her butt into his groin

his face reacted with surprise

the gentle rocking of the train

did the rest

breathless, angry, confused

I wanted to rip them apart

yet, I wanted to see more

what was wrong with me

she looked over her shoulder

at the brute behind her

he moved closer to her

pushing against her white skirt

rubbing himself against my Allie

I had to stop it

my feet refused to move

my aroused groin betrayed me

what the…..

oh you confuse me Devil Girl

You already know the drill, to be continued.

weeks after the Pandora episode

I found a message upon my desk

the card contained her sweet scent

her note mentioned a time and place

it contained simple instructions

watch, follow,  you don’t know me

 I don’t know you

the rules seemed simple enough

hours later I stood in the crowded train station

she was nowhere to be found

a slight parting of the mob

revealed my darling angel

my heart jack hammered against my ribs

she wore a sheer white blouse

that revealed her bra silhouette

a short beige skater skirt

beige high heels that looked well standing up

and just as sweet  in the air

reaching for the stars

knowing Allie, panties were optional

the men around her stole discreet glances

what a silly game she played

a subway slowly pulled into the station

bringing a slight breeze with it

my throat went desert dry

her fluttering skirt defied gravity

revealing her perverted plans and more

what are you doing Devil Girl

To be continued next Saturday

Jessie

Normally, I try to post a poem on Thursday, however due to the holiday, I will post one today.

Jessie

They buried Jessie’s older brother today

he just finished turning five

she never had a toy, tv, or internet

yet she’s grateful to be alive

her brother taught her one through ten

by counting her fragile ribs

now she smiles when her stomach growls

as Mama feeds the newborn in the crib

Jessie runs barefoot down a dirt road

in a tattered dress of white

with baby fed, Mama has only one concern

will Jessie eat tonight

According to the United Nations World Food Programme statistics, approximately 3.1 million children under the age of five die each year from hunger or poor nutrition.

Lonely Author Guide To Communicating With Women

Men, have you ever stared at the phone trying to decipher the last thing your better half just uttered? Have you ever scratched your head knowing she said something between the lines?  Have you ever taken selfies wearing fine lingerie, nail polish, and perfume?  Ooops, that’s a post for another day.

Christmas isn’t here yet, but here is an early gift for men, a guide to communicating with women because you already realize that yes means no, no means no, no means yes, or sometimes maybe….ah, shucks, you get the idea.

  1. Fine – This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
  2. Five Minutes – If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour       (possibly more). Five minutes is only three minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
  3. Nothing – This is the key word. This is the calm before the storm. Don’t let yourself be fooled. Nothing never means nothing. Nothing means something. It could mean anything. Or possibly everything. But nothing is never nothing. Glad we cleared that up.  Arguments that begin with “nothing” usually end in “fine.” (See number 1).
  4. Go Ahead – Oh, oh oh. This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It! Abandon ship. Abandon ship.
  5. Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing if necessary).
  6. That’s Okay – This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
  7. Thanks – A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you’re welcome and be grateful.
  8. Whatever – Is a women’s way of saying go to hell!  If she were mad enough she would send your herself, but she knows you would get lost and fail to ask for directions anyway.
  9. Don’t worry about it or I got it – Another dangerous statement. She has asked you to do something several times, but is  now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking “What’s wrong?” For the woman will respond nothing. (Please refer to number 3).
  10. I am tired. Let’s go to sleep – Gentlemen, if she says this during an argument, this is code for two words; Lorena Bobbitt. Don’t do it. She is in full Freddie Kruger mode. Drink coffee. Pinch yourself. Or learn to sleep with one eye open.Have a wonderful week.

    Keep smiling.

    Keep Writing.

Devil Girl Diaries – 2 (The Breakup)

This is our story.

Standing outside the food court

My wobbly knees barely supporting me

Two construction workers approached her

what kind of foolish game was this?

As one reached for her hand

I stormed out of the mall

burning cheeks scorching everything around me

I refuse to share my girl

I refused to play this game

We didn’t speak for days

Ignored her texts, calls, and messages

then I accidentally heard one voicemail

she wept like a baby

I called her, promising to visit her the next day

Allie opened the door and rushed me

Her red eyes full of moist regret

her nakedness embellished the hallway

“I will not share what is mine”

She smiled at my naive words

She replied, “loving is sharing”

from the bedroom came a gorgeous brunette

wearing heels, a smile, and a wicked scent

she impressed me with her outfit

before I could ask, Allie smiled “This is Pandora.

if you love me, let me watch you do her”

what the hell, we are supposed to be arguing

She whispered, “Do you love me Andrew?”

struggling with the stirring in my jeans

I shut my eyes and sighed

Yes I love you Devil Girl

Jake Cross Can’t Live Another Day Without Her

Seven billion people dead; yet his selfish heart only mourned for one.

The distraught figure dragged his body to the ledge of the mountaintop, as if he alone towed the burdens of a dying planet. He looked down on the futuristic metropolis constructed over the ashes of mankind. The alien city with its pale glass structures resembled a crystal cemetery of broken dreams.

Clutching the last remaining evidence that humans once inhabited the Earth, he groaned.

Through misty eyes, Jake Cross admired a photograph of his wife Lisa. His heart pounded against his ribs like a relentless bill collector at the door. Intolerable emptiness grew inside him like a cancerous black hole, eating away at his brittle psyche, devouring his aching soul.

He pressed the photo against his heaving chest as if her image could wipe away his pain.

Who better to console him? Lisa always neutralized his sorrows with a smile or warm embrace. Wiping the moisture from his eyes, a warm breeze caressed his skin reminding him of her gentle touch. He trembled like a virgin relishing her first kiss. Would he eventually forget the sound of her soft voice?

Jake couldn’t live like this. Earth without Lisa would be as cold and desolate as Pluto. He vowed to search for her. He needed to know if she survived. A horrifying thought crept into his mind like a swarm of stampeding centipedes. What if she suffered the same fate as the seven billion others?

He rubbed the photo against his chest with violent motions like an irritated student hoping to erase an error from a page. He preferred to cling to diminishing hope because the alternative…..

Jake shut his moist brown eyes.

It would be easier to stop breathing than to live another day without her.
