Another Place & Time
She stands by the window
gazing at the stars
that were never meant for her
she has been unloved so long
she doesn’t remember
any other way to live
She has found a taken man
a man who would repair
every barren heartbeat
a man who would seal
eternal voids with love
until she was whole again
She quietly admires him
knowing this loving man
is exactly who she needs
the stars were never meant for her
so she dreams of love
in another place and time

This takes my breath away, Andrew.

I think you and some other ladies may relate to this. You deserve all the love life has to offer.

BTW….Infiniti, Lexus or Mercedes? I drive one of those….I’d be curious to see which one you guess.

Smiling. Thank you for saying that. One of my favorite movies is Mel Gibson in “What Women Want.” I try to understand the female point of view. Now, regarding your question that is tricky. I love Infiniti or a big Nissan Armada. That would be my choice for myself. God, you are so classy I am tempted to say Mercedes.
Survey says: Lexus

Ha. I used to drive a Mercedes. When the Infiniti J30 first came out, Loser bought me one. I drove it for twenty years and it had less than 100k miles on it. It still looked almost new. I then went to a G37x and kept it for a while. The last time I went to Florida, I got a wild hair and bought a brand new Q50. I hate it.
I do, though have my keys on a sterling silver Mercedes key chain that Loser got for me. Just can’t give that up.

I’ve been told I come across as too self sufficient, so guys have never wanted to spend a dime on me. My husband and I love him dearly, thinks a bike ride or mountain climb, breakfast at Johnny Manana’s once a week is all I ever need. Sigh. He did pay off my antique bed I had on layaway when we were dating. That was sweet.

LikeLiked by 2 people
Interesting. What exactly is a twinflame or how is that different.
LikeLike
A twinflame would be the same share of oversoul (a part of consciousness) that further split before entering the Universe into two twin souls. Not everyone would have a twin soul on Earth and the purpose of finding your twin soul is actually to realise your mission on your planet. Twinflames are supposed to bear a common code that brings forth the reality of true love on various levels. You can say it is somewhat like a sophisticated game that consciousness is playing with itself through certain characters.

So you can have more than one soul mate but only one twinflame. This is fascinating. I adore and admire your level of enlightenment.

Beautiful but sad to be living in a time separate from the love of her life. Perhaps? It is illusion and the love she longs for already exists in herself waiting to be shared? True love comes from a position power not need. Not the kind of power that seeks control over others but power as in self-sufficiency. See what your poems do to my thoughts?

Profound thoughts. I have tried to covey the message of self love in past posts. It is only when we love ourselves that we can find true love in others. People make the mistake of seeking happiness in others, instead of beginning within. You and I get deep into this, huh?

Sometimes,I nearly drown myself in the deep end. lol But I still love to go deep diving. This poem invites me to delve deeper into the ‘why’ of her state. Deeply touched by this poem. So many people feel bereft of love – all of us at some point in our lives. Henry David Thoreau wrote, “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation, and go to the grave with the song still in them.” Those who create love and compassion are fortunate indeed. I can see you at the other end of this poem, the one who sees worth in everyone.

Late to the party again! I loved reading everyone’s comments, though. You have to find a way to move on when “the right” one is taken. I read an interesting article about the fallacy of soul mates. I’ll try and find it, it was really interesting. Bottom line: we may have several soul mates, or like Geetha said: twin flames! I love that!
