Misfit Rendezvous

pieces of a broken heart

Misfit Rendezvous

Look at me I am a broken man
with a busted heart unglued
clinging to my fragmented parts
my warranty is no longer due
there you are a fractured woman
a hole has replaced your whole
you need a coronary jump start
or a sign that says damaged goods
we’d be a perfect imperfection
meeting on a misfit rendezvous
two interlocking jigsaw pieces
broken me and fractured you

  1. …broken heart pieces put back together in a mismatched, haphazard way…always a great starting point for a poem. ” Sign that says damaged goods”…true, so true…we come with so much baggage. Insightful my friend…💔

  2. Beautiful. Oh, I long for a misfit rendezvous now!
*smiling*. In reality, I know it can be hard when two broken souls meet… but, on rare occasions, it is a perfect fit! Like in your lovely poem. Thanks for sharing. 🙂 Have a good day!

  3. I love this one! Everything about it: the word play, the rhythm, the rhyme, the concept. It sings to me like a song…

    But this…
    “we’d be a perfect imperfection
    meeting on a misfit rendevous
    two interlocking jigsaw pieces
    broken me and fractured you.”
    … this is brilliant!!

    Well done, chimp, well done!

        1. Smiling. All of us are broken to one degree or other. Its the interlocking of our broken-ness that makes our relationships whole. Thank you for your sweet words. They fill me up with
happiness. You know you will always be special for me. xoxo

  4. Broken me and fractured me. You know, I don’t think anybody could possibly write like this, unless they had been emotionally murdered….like so many of us. It’s a club of the walking dead. We paid our dues and they were exorbitant. Some of us found freedom….some of us are still looking for that hidden door….some of us are still chained to the cold steel shackles of our prison.

    1. All of us are broken. You know I came from an abusive home. You know I had an accident that has left me in eternal pain. These things cause me pain, but I choose not to suffer. I released those chains long ago. Life is too short to relive the tradegies. Happiness is a choice we must make everyday.

      1. I just realized that it should have been “fractured you.” And here I am, making fun of men who don’t use proper grammar (they don’t talk good.) LOL
I know about your suffering and to come out of it, still in pain but able to offer such comfort and encouragement to others, speaks volumes about the kind of man you are.

        1. I know you have a soft center that deserves to be loved. I know you have been hurt, but you are strong. You will overcome your pain. And one day you will laugh about all of this. You know you will always have a special place inside me. Thank you so much forcall of your kind words. They made me so happy.

    1. Aren’t all of us broken to some extent? I know I definitely am. Glad you enjoyed this. I am going to try to shift to posting a little more fiction. Let’s see how that works out. Thanks for dropping by. Have a great weekend.

          1. The important thing is to then be with someone who does not bang on the chipped edges that you’ve stuck together. It can be a harrowing process and unfortunately people who are still broken have the knack of banging on your chipped ends rather than adding glue

  5. Love the phrase, “we’d be a perfect imperfection”
You blend emotions and humor beautifully in this piece. It left me smiling, yet feeling a little sad for two (partially damaged) souls.

  8. Look at me I am a fractured woman
I’m filled with nothingness and need
A hole has replaced my whole
I am helpless down upon my knees
Longing for the empty to be filled
I see you, a broken man
Our damaged pieces scattered and discarded
Blindly searching with an outreached hands
    Together we are broken
Yet together we can be reborn anew
As we glue each other back together
    Fractured me and broken you

Hope you don’t mind. I felt the need to respond this way. XOXO

    1. Laughing. We are all broken to some extent. That elusive search for perfection is an unreal expectation
portrayed by Disney, Playboy, Hollywood, Victoria’s Secret, and the fashion industry. Thank you so much for taking the time out to stop by and read. Have a wonderful weekend.

  9. Today my hubby and I celebrate our 44th anniversary. This poem describes us perfectly. At the end of the second reading I realized I’d been holding my breath. How did you know? Something about you, Chimp, very unique The last four lines especially – stand alone sublime, like the final rays of the sun lingering on the edge of the ocean.

  10. Sometimes those broken and fragmented parts fit perfectly together. I am reminded of the patchwork quilts my grandmother used to make. They started as piles tattered clothing but ended up becoming something beautiful. Great write, Andrew!

    1. Thomas this just popped into my dashboard comments along with a slew of others. I wouldn’t want you to think I ignored you. Thank you so much for your kind words. We are all broken to some extent. I see love the joinging of these broken pieces or like you say the patchwork quilts. Thanks so much for your compliments. I appreciate them. And again, sorry, for this late response.

      1. You need never apologize, Andrew. I know the frustrations that come with Word Press and it’s reader, notifications, etc. Sometimes I want to wrap my hands around the reader and squeeze the life out of it 🙂 You are kindly welcome – I really loved this piece!
